MAG listing on GameStop - Image 1

Although there has been no launch date specified for Zipper Interactive's MAG yet, retailers have been working under the assumption that the game would be released this year. It appears that has changed though.

Kotaku is reporting that both GameFly and GameStop have changed their projected release date for the game to January 2010 from the original November 24 release they were expecting. Again, these are just retailer estimates, but do these two know stuff we don't?

Sony hasn't commented yet on any schedule changes for MAG, but we'll bring you updates as soon as we hear them.

I'm glad that they're doing this and leaving some margins between the release dates of each of their games. This January, I hope Heavy Rain February and then GoW3 in March. Dumping all the games in the Holidays is hard. Only the really hyped games are going to sell. But I think that MAG should be released before Modern Warfare 2 so that people can actually appreciate it and not compare it to Modern Warfare 2 like everyone did for Killzone 2 with CoD4.

» Give him a break...

He's too busy writing a glowing review for Halo 4 to bother himself to come back to the present with his GoW3 review.

» MAG MOD2

Modern Warfare 2 will be released in November, so I doubt that MAG could be released earlier. Even so, the two would still be compared by everybody.

What I'm afraid though is that MAG will become another PlanetSide.

If you think about it, the two are eerily similar in their approach to gaming.
