To come to the PSN used car lot: more MotorStorm rides to wreck! - Image 1At GDC 2007, 1UP sat down with SCEE Senior Producer Pete Smith to talk a lot about MotorStorm. A lot. Full interview over at the Read Link, but as you can tell by the article title, we do have some important things to highlight, which may indicate future news and PR from SCEE or Evolution Studios. Seat belts, please.

As to why Evolution/SCEE wasn't able to implement a couple of additional features in MotorStorm multiplayer - namely split-screen and AI bots - Smith mentioned the no-compromise AAA approach the devs took to developing the game. The focus was on making sure that what MotorStorm delivered was top-notch. They had a ton of ideas to implement in the game, said Pete, but "with the standards we've set we can only do a certain amount of things."

Pete cites the smooth experiences of online multiplayers as the pudding of proof. "Our focus is when there is the full amount of people online, playing this game we don't want any lag. We want a nice smooth experience, and I think that's what we delivered."

Okay, now Downloadable Content">downloadable content. For the near future, Pete mentioned "tracks and vehicles and characters" as some of their exciting DLC, "but also we've got modes as well to expand the width of the game." Fresh air: DLC being used to expand replayability, as many had hoped. Oh, thank goodness, then. That should address come concerns.

When is it coming? "We are doing it. I think people won't have to wait as long as four to five months." And how much will it hurt the wallet?

Some of its going to be paid-for content, but also we're going to give some content away for free, which I think is really, really going to go down well with the community. Because we're giving away some real substantial content which is really going to help the community, sustain the community and give them something a little bit new, which I think downloadable content is all about.

Oh, thank goodness, indeed. This IS going to go down well with the community.

Fck Yeah

They need to hurry up with that dl content, Motorstorm is the best looking racing game I've played yet, the visuals are photorealistic. As long as it's free that'll work, 8D.

Nice interview...

though it sucks that 1up decided to give motorstorm a 7.5, it seriously deserved at least an 8.0...

Load times

I Love MS, this news is even more proof my money was well spent on a SOLID title. I just hope they allow a way to keep some content on the HD, such as the bikes or the maps the load times can get irritating...

hahaha

I thought you were saying you love Microsoft(MS), and then you started saying you spent you money well on motorstorm. I was like, what the hell?

...

Lol haha that comment so confused me when you said MS. Also do you think when Sony releases their rumble pads (if they do) that the makers of motorstorm would put out an update so rumble works on the game?

nice game'' absolutly love it to death

they should give you a stunt park creator'' so you can build some crazy tracks and .... invite some friends to go crazy with them and maby like twisted metal... guns i like making parks in the tony hawk games and stuntman' but stuntman was very limited to what the ps2 could handle

hmm think BEYOND

the game already supports rumble' the developers were working on the game for years' and sony just over night said' motion is future' theres no reason they would take all tha work they did rumbling the game'' its a 54 gig' disk'..............its still on the disk maby it needs to be patched to work or someone can hack a dual shock 2 controller to work on ps3 '' i also think resistance has it in there

I would imagine so

The makers of the game seem to be investing a lot into it, and since they're already releasing DLC, a rumble patch might be pretty reasonable.

Great game?

Other than the fact that it looks pretty (including the crash sequences) can anyone name a reason why this game is special? I've played the demo and hopefully it's far from the real thing. Basically, it's just another racing game. Another shallow, graphically loaded race game.

oh my

well that pete smith sounds like such a swell guy. I can't wait for the additional content to make MS into even a better game than it is!!! ;o)
