Tick-tock, goes the clock, as the days pass by quickly, and the release of the PS3 gets ever nearer. We know that many are already gearing up for that long line; some are even ready for the 24-hour camp-out by the doorstep of gaming stores come November. But then again, there are some who aren't sure yet.With all the information that we have about Sony's console, one can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed as he has to wade through all those details, fact sheets, and press releases just to remember whether the PS3 has a particular feature or not. So, to help consumers everywhere, the lovely people over at Macworld have streamlined that information a bit, and compiled 24 key points for this system.
On top of helping the undecided gamer, this list also hopes to help expectant buyers who are already keen on getting a PS3, if only to serve as a bit of a reality check. After all, no one wants to expect something, and then end up feeling disappointed. So here's the 24 things that you can look forward to, and it's up to you if it's all good or not:
- Touch-sensitive power and eject buttons are a nice touch — literally
- 15,000 kiosks across the nation by the end of November
- The PS3 is not just a cheap Blu-ray player
- Not all games will be 1080p
- The Sixaxis controller doesnÂ’t feel too light
- Speaking of which, the Sixaxis motion sensing takes some getting used to.
- The PSP will connect via Wi-Fi to the PS3Â’s hard drive
- The Sixaxis gets roughly 30 hours of battery life
- There’s no “lag” on the wireless Sixaxis controller
- The SixaxisÂ’s wireless range tops out at over 65 feet (20 meters)
- A new controller will set you back 50 beans
- Your PlayStation2 save game files can be transferred to the PS3
- The Blu-ray disc drive is slot loading, and it works like a dream
- One LED on the PS3 seems dedicated to tracking hard drive activity
- The first 500,000 PS3s will be packaged with a free Blu-Ray feature film
- There’s still a hard “power-off” switch on the back of the system, just like the PS2
- The PS3 is very, very shiny
- As a whole, the PS3 itself looks incredibly sexy
- The PS3 is super quiet
- You can plug in a USB keyboard and surf the ‘Net
- The power supply is integrated directly into the system

Ah! No. Ill wait untill after xmas. If all looks good then I will buy. That should be long enough time to get all the bugs out. And If a hacker does brick the systems online we should know by then.

I have a 306 its a great console but I hardly play it anymore. I have over 6 games for it but the only one i play is call of duty 2 the other games are just boring now that I have pass them. My xbox 360 is just sitting in the living collecting dust and I always love the way it sounds as i start a game sounds like a 747 getting ready to take off. As I see the features that the playstation 3 has I'm more eager to buy it. I have windows xp service pack 2 so theirs no way that I take advantage of the media center feature that the xbox 360 has all I could do is stream music and photos not video. I know this won't be a problem with the playstation 3. I have invested alot of money in my 360 from games, controls to internal cooler but now i'm start to save up money to buy a playstation 3 oh I will buy two last games gear of war and call of duty 3 assuming that I was not able to get my hands on a playstation 3 this holiday season.
all looks good but i hope by july the price on the controller goes down a bit. but knowing me ill get 7 at launch. but i cant wate.

Since when does size directly correlate to the aesthetics of a console? The Xbox was so damn ugly, large or not. The PS3 is sexy, even if it is big. Great list of facts btw, makes me want one even more. :)
whatever i dont care i got me a ps3 reserve BABY i will laugh at you people that are sitting outside for 24+ hours while i wake up and go when i feel like it. the ps3 will smash the wii. COme on now, what does the wii have to offer? a POS controller, plays dvd games, graphics is like a freakin xbox. the only thing resonable is the price. If u were going to get the wii, i would buy a slim ps2 instead. you will get more quality.LOL
