Media Molecule continues to make waves as LittleBigPlanet reveals new features in the works: new levels, costumes, and materials to name a few. Associate producer Eric Fong speaks to Gamepro about the upcoming additions to the game. "Yes, Media Molecule is continuing to add to the player experience with new levels, costumes, materials, and a host of other content." he said.

For those who've been wondering, it doesn't seem that new weapons will be coming along. Fong clarifies,

In our opinion, the spirit of LittleBigPlanet was to "figure ways around obstacles" and less about blowing stuff up, though certainly a player can already create their own experience to include missile launchers and the like.

Avid creators will benefit as LittleBigPlanet ensures that players can easily find the best user-created levels. Furthermore,

There is a slew of metrics we monitor to help point players in the right direction, including how many people have "Hearted" a level and/or creator, how often a level is played, user comments, "tagging" etc. The cream will literally rise to the top as popular levels take up more real-estate in the game.

Speaking of cream and creators, what about the cash? Will we be able to sell our creations for actual money? "There are still a lot of details that need to be worked out, that's pretty much all I can say at this point," Fong said.

Well, we may not get to sell our creations just yet, but we'd still have tons of fun creating them. After all, most of us haven't had a long time to play.

selling our creations sounds pretty dumb to me, I don't see why you would use others creations in your own maps, I mean you could use the same idea but create your own unique piece then I think the community would appreciate it more too because then there is more variety rather then "oh look its that same boss from that other guys level"

Also if you did see a creation so good to buy, I think you would most likely attempt to recreate it yourself instead of paying money for it...

» Cool I think.

I hope we can sell our levels for playstation store money (for LBP stuff of course). :) I just hope I can make good enough levels that people would buy them.

but thats the thing, the moment we have a cash for creation system people will lose interest.. this basically makes LBP a pay to play online game like WoW or something.. and that plainly sucks

» Not really Madman

I can still play online with my freinds, and I can make levels and charge nothing. Then me and my freinds can play all we want with no extra cost. NOT like WOW.

As for your first post, by creations he means levels.

» I agree....

but some people are not as creative as others....and other people are just plain lazy....

but ya, if you see something you like, you should figure out how it works and try to re-create it yourself.....that is half the fun...

» the problem is...

that Sony covered this already in their new EULA.....which says they can use any user created content however they want....

Good luck getting money for it...

Is that the first eula you ever read before? They all are just as insane, they are protecting themselves. They may let you make money on them for a time than sell them a year later as a blu-ray with the most popular levels.

» crime!

It would be a crime against everything LittleBIGplanet stand for, to start charging people to play your levels..

Create, play and share is the key elements.. they are eliminated if you start charging for it (as a player)...

Work, test and sell? >_>
