LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2 coming next Fall?

LittleBigPlanet - Image 1The consensus in the Sony PlayStation 3 camp these days seems to carry a theme like "2007's storm is over and 2008 will be payback time." It's a battle cry that resonates even in the ThreeSpeech blogs as they published their 2008 PS3 preview.

There's no doubt that this claim potentially holds a lot of water with a slew of AAA games projected within the next calendar year. There's one interesting detail in the article, however, that we thought we'd share.

According to the author, Media Molecule's anticipated genre-busting LittleBigPlanet will debut in the September to October period. This is contrary to the belief of some that it will hit in the earlier parts of 2008.

Also stated was that Sony's Killzone 2 will arrive in the same period. We haven't heard much about the Guerrilla Games project lately, but it's nice to see some light at the end of its development tunnel.

Of course, there's nothing to assure any of us that the Fall 2008 release claims for Killzone 2 and LittleBigPlanet are accurate. It's just interesting to get some idea of when we can expect them.

I think that with the release of MGS during the summer and FF in the fall, LBP should be released in the spring, but then theres already great titles coming out then like Battlefield: Bad Company, Haze, and for Europe UT3, so I think it's fair if LBP and Killzone come out during next christmas season, that will help boost the PS3's sales past the 360 and passably the Wii, because as far as I've seen those systems don't have anything good enough to go against the juggernaut FF, and LBP and Killzone on top of that will help the PS3 win next Christmas season, Killzoned!

» well...

make a little sense... or a lot really... is just like the marketing thing of microsoft (kind of), releasing a big exclusive title each quarter to make everybody think in the console every month, keep selling the console, don't disturb the sales of games with another big game and hit with the most hyped game at the end of the year... the best they can do in my opinion...

I think MGS4 for Spring, LBP for Summer, Killzone 2 for the Fall, and Final Fantasy XIII/Versus XIII for Winter would be the big TKO for the PS3 in order to regain the market (if you count four knockdowns as a TKO in this case). That kind of domination is insurmountable when you consider that both Microsoft and Nintendo have shown all the chickens in their coop.

I mean, for Nintendo, you have Smash Bros., No More Heroes, probably Monster Hunter 3, and Mario Kart. For Microsoft, it's Too Human, Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2, and Halo Wars (among a few other titles that have yet to shown whether they will be a hit or miss).

Each system are holding their killer apps next year. Could 2008 be an even bigger year than 2007? It just might be when you consider just how many games have been delayed to this year (at least 70%). Only time will tell if the PS3 can control the market, because it definitely has competition, but it also has the backing of some of the biggest games in gaming history. Couple that with the fact that the price just keeps going lower and lower, if anything, by the time Fiscal Year 2008 closes, we might be looking at a 3-way tie.

» well yeah...

I was just talking about killzone... like QJ said... it's been a while since they mention something about the game... LBP I thought and hear somewhere that will be the 1st quarter of 2008 but who knows...

Game Spot has Killzone 2 available for pre-order for Feb 2nd. I hope that they got it right, I can't wait for this game to come out so I can shut my friends mouth once and for all. Especially with Halo 3 being such a let down graphically and not that great of a campaign mode. I mean it wasn't a bad game by any means but it certainly didn't live up to the hype. And yes I own a 360 and Halo 3! I seriously can't wait for Killzone 2 and Little Big Planet can't come soon enough for Sony. That will be a great console seller with parents ( I can already see the commercials) lol They will fly off the shelves.
