LittleBigPlanet goes Gold (the ELSPA award, this time) |
Ó

Manufacturing-wise, LittleBigPlanet has gone gold a few months back (obviously it has, since you wouldn't have been able to play it yet if it hadn't). But this time around, achievement-wise, Media Molecule's title was awarded by the ELSPA for getting a Gold status!
What does ELSPA's Gold award mean? In a few words, it means LBP has sold a heck of a lot in the UK already. In a few more words (and with upcoming bulletpoints!), it means LBP has sold enough to be just a step away from being Platinum. As you may guess, these are sales-driven milestones.
The Gold status means that a game has already sold anywhere between 200,000 to 300,000 copies in the UK alone. That's already quite an achievement for LBP, and more so, since people are expecting it to gain Platinum recognition (300k-600k) soon.
And to think, LBP has gotten quite a botchy start in sales too. Now it seems to have steadily high sales enough to push it into the 200k-300k mark.
To compare, other recent Gold-status games are Far Cry 2 and Wrath of the Lich King. Silvers have been given to Resistance 2 and Wii Music, while the coveted Platinum has already been achieved by Fable 2. There's also the rare Diamond status (over 1 million copies sold in UK), which has recently been given to Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit.
