LittleBigPlanet early copies unboxed

Sackboy's out of the box! And two weeks early, too? Too early, perhaps? An anonymous source from Maxconcole forums has sent a wealthy amount of images showing Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet .

LittleBigPlanet broken street date - Image 1

It seems that these early copies were sent out for reporters to give their reviews. There's also another guy from MTV Multiplayer Blog, Stephen Totilo, who did receive such a copy, and he, too, took pictures of it as proof. According to him, the early copies of the game won't allow the user to see and share other folks' levels yet. The most you can do is play the ones that are in the disc, and make your own.

It's also said that the box gives out pretty generic details, such as the game playing in 720p, that it supports 1-4 players online and requires 600MB of harddrive space. There's also no mention in the manual of the Solid Snake and Final Fantasy VII add-on content, nor that of the paid marketplace.

What is there is a warm welcome note for the players:

We want to create a big, happy family — and that means the we all need to respect each other’s feelings. So, as tempting as it is, please refrain from being rude! No swearing, no rude drawings and nothing that would offend your granny.

Anyhow, us mere mortals will be getting a copy of the game the same time as everyone else, so we'll just keep our eyes peeled out for more news to bring to you.

I don't recall if Sony ever did that with their PS1 and PS2 covers.

Warhawk has "Playstation Network Exclusive" written in a very understated fashion on the top of the cover of the case. But, certainly not as prominent as "Only on Playstation" here. I had to go back and look at all my PS3 covers, because I would have thought those would. But, you're right. Looks like all the talk about 'Exclusives' these days is making Sony start to be more self-conscious. But, deservedly so for LBP. I have the beta, and it'll be a bummer when the beta period ends tomorrow night (for the week or so until the official release).

I hope that the retail version has that spiral-bound manual. Finally a manual that will lay flat. (Probably won't tho, as it's much cheaper to staple some pages together than spiral binding. And cheaper production costs are king with full-scale commercial production quantities.)

I think it will have the spiral manual. The pdf manual sony released was spiral bound. This early copy has a spiral bound as well no matter if it's a beta or whatever. And I think in general the production values of lbp have been quite high from the start. I think you can bet there will be a spiral bound manual in the final thing as well.

I'd have to say no. It will only appears to be a spiral manual, like shown in the leaked pic. The spiral binding look will just be printed onto the side of the cover. If they did go through with an actual spiral binding, it wouldn't fit well within the clamps of the case. Plus, I'm sure people would hate to have parts of the pages torn due to the spiral binding. If you ever had a spiral binder/notebook, you would know what I'm talking about.

I don't hate ps3 or anything but y would you buy a game that has you create the levels? For instanse i got bored with the halo 3 forge thing after one use. This game seems so stupid and insulting to the ps3 gameing system. Its sad that people even look forward to this game comming out.

There is a proper game to play with pre-made levels too. Plus, there are a shed load of Trophies to win too.

BUUUUUT... I kinda know what you mean. I have pre-ordered this, so will get it on its release date( and am quite excited about it), but I'm not sure how many levels I'll be able to come up with, or how long it will keep me interested for!

Spose I'll find out when I play it :o)

If everyone just makes 1 level only, its still a million levels to play. :)

the only reason they wrote "playstation network exclusive" is because that's the ONLY way to play it. It's mainly a disclaimer that you have to have an online account to play, not really to tout that it's a PS3 exclusive.

There is no reason to ever create a level if you do not want to.

Just play the preloaded levels and all the highly rated user levels.

Simple as that!
