Who knows how much time and money you spent on all those collectibles and costumes in the first LittleBigPlanet? Fear not, when LittleBigPlanet 2 comes along, you'll still be able to make use of them in the brand new world.

"We’re working hard to ensure that everything you’ve collected from LittleBigPlanet can be used in the new game," says SCEA Marketing Manager Mark Valledor in a Q&A at the PlayStation Blog. That means that your old DLC, building items, and stickers will still work fine in the sequel.

"Certainly anything you’ve picked up from the PSN Store will be fully present and correct in LittleBigPlanet 2, the only time something might not quite work perfectly is if it has been created by another player using a ‘glitched’ object of some kind. Even then we’re optimistic that all of the existing content you’ve collected will continue to work," he added.

Now that LBP 2 will be using a new graphics engine, however, DLC for the new game will not work on the old one.

The Q&A also covers a whole lot of new content in the sequel, such as the ability to add custom voice acting, the Sackbots, and an E3 appearance.

As long as there's a good way to separate the two. It might get confusing fishing through both huge sets of data.

Assuming the new stuff is dramatically different.

Not everyone because just yesterday people were asking if their old maps would work with the new version. In fact, MANY people were asking.

So if it's old news, it's not every well known news.

Not everyone visits every site on the known internet. I never saw the article on QJ.

This probably toots QJ's horn but QJ is the only site I bother to RSS tag for video game news.

I hope this is not like Rock band and Rock Band 2 were they said that the game was backwards compatible and people ended paying I think it was $5 to transfer the songs from the original game. But I know M.M. is not like that. Great news.

It's not like rock band didn't have a reason for charging. Licensing costs money you know.

Yes, they cost money and they already got our money from the RB1 purchase. They charged the $5 so people wouldn't bounce the disc around and give anyone the previous songs. So as always the people who do the right thing and PAY get screwed!!!

I agree with ISOHaven, and if you look at it a lot of the DLC in LBP is licensed as well. Like the MGS DLC, Street Fighter, Sonic, etc. So far M.M. hadn't said anything about re-charging for any DLC already purchased.
