LittleBigBeggars bring the internets to its knees - a phenomenon is born? |
Ó
If you happen to be one of the big sites planning on giving out beta keys for LittleBigPlanet this week - IGN, 1Up, Gametrailers- be afraid, be very, very afraid.First, the rabid hordes brought Eurogamer.net crashing down, then 4,000+ of them suffered through an hour of Gamespot's laughably bad weekly TV show, "On The Spot" in an effort to score a code. All the while, they assaulted gaming forums spawning 100+ page threads in a matter of mere days (NeoGAF, I'm lookin' at you!)
This morning, Gamepro quietly let it be known that they'd be offering a few keys "in an hour or so". Minutes later Gamepro was no more, its servers crushed by the exasperated army of LittleBigBeta code beggars hammering at their gates.
Did I mention they also totally crashed the LittleBigPlanet official US homepage for about 3 hours? Oh yeah, and they also left ELEVEN THOUSAND COMMENTS on a single beta code related post in three days.
So, you think Sony's got a hit on its hands? Maybe?
Oh yeah, and if you're in the beta, please leave some comments below, we'd love to hear your thoughts :)

This will certainly be a console mover. I'll enjoy rubbing that in a few faces!

Whatever happened to those PS3 fanboys that put down Nintendo and their kiddy games? Looks like the PS3 has a kiddy game that every PS3 fanboy is hyped up for.

God forbid we acknowledge that game be good while not appealing to us. Also, maybe hold off on the negativism until the game is actually out, and maybe until you've played it?

"Are you dreaming?
I have had to turn so many people away!"
haha the game is pretty addictive, though. For the most part, the people that don't like this game are either kids that think playing 'tough' games make them seem tough, or guys that are insecure with their masculinity....
hate to break the bad news to you guys, but the game IS good. I didnt think it would be, but the beta proved that it is. Good graphics, fun crap, friends, make your own levels and high production value. tough to beat. My friend thats working on Gears 2 is dying for the beta, too. He was the reason I asked for a second key. He claims it to be game of the year. no lie. crazy, rite?

Can you seriously not use images and mp3's from your HDD ?
Somehow I was under the impression that you could do this.
Well this changes my opinion on this game. I will just let it pass and pick it up from the budget bin in 2 years or so.

Who said you couldn't? They showed us a demo of using someone's picture to stamp all over the place.
Maybe they had to cut back since this stuff will be online and they didn't want any PORN level popping up.

and it seems i was lucky i had hardly any problems, i left with a key after 15 minuites
but then about another 15mins later i was trying to get another code for my mate and it was almost impossible, after about an hour of constant trying i managed to get another code
the beta is great, theres so much content in it for a beta, with so much stuff to unlock which all help you to make better levels
to bad i suck at making levels

seems like a reasonable compromise

Fun fun fun, but Sony is SO SLOW, they said up to 48 hours to receive a key, still waiting for it, this is unbearably low considering all other sites just give them away like ASAP :X

making a level on LBP can be hard if you want to make something really complex, including loads of mechanisms and electronics and sometimes you have to use undo a lot to get something right, or delete a big chunk of the level and start again, but it is much more accessible and instantly playable than anything else out there that does this. plus you can publish your own levels and play online
