It's already August, but there's still no sign of Life with PlayStation. Apparently, "procedural matters" have gotten in the way of the new service's end of July target release.

According to Noam Rimon, senior development manager for Sony Computer Entertainment America's R&D department, Life with PlayStation will make its debut in August. No specific dates this time, just a vague August release date.

For those who missed our earlier reports on Life with PlayStation, this service allows PS3 users to view interactive content and channels using a worldwide 3D map interface. Kind of like the Wii News Channel.

During E3, SCEA head Jack Tretton also revealed that as part of the Life with PlayStation service, users will be able to upload videos to YouTube from within games.

I never thought I'd see the day when Sony missed a release date.

» Sounds Interesting

Nice to hear they are adding this new feature. The Wii News channel is pretty cool. It lets you view a variety of news topics fast and easily. Pretty cool too how it shows the world map with the locations of where the events are happening too.

» not only

is it a detailed globe (moreso thanFolding@Hom e), it's supposed to be a reasonably up to date weather satellite view.

» Just wait for it...

Ant it will come....Another way to be competitive in the console wars, which is really only between Sony and Nintendo. Xbox 360 has been beaten down by the PS3

» I disagree

Im a ps3 fan but i disagree with you chivafighter becuase the xbox360 has still not been beaten down by the ps3 yet. The xbox360 is still standing strong and i dont think any of them will be going down anytime soon, this console war has not ended yet. Only the end of the console wars will tell the truth.

Anyway its good to see that sony is releasing a useful app for the ps3.

I just hope we can use our own pre-existing youtube accounts for the in-game video upload service.

» hmm yea

thinking the same thing I think this'll be a great feature I just know Youtube will be flooding with extra dumbass gaming footage and need I say...even more dumb ***** I'm all for it though like how Haze massively glitched a couple days ago when everyone pelvis and legs were twitching violently or when all you can see are textures and pixel grass it was halarious

maybe youtube will have a gamming division or you make a gaming channel

And the Folding@Home globe does look really nice.

I like how the PS2 won the 6th Generation War and is now pushing into the 7th Gen and doing rather well.

Is it just me or should they have released a basic notepad, calculator, and Paint application at the beginning? I think these would be a useful addition.
