It won't get pulled out this time. I hope. Life With PlayStation is now live (again) and ready for downloading. So what's all the hype about? Isn't it just a Google Earth kinda thing? You bet your Life with PlayStation it's not (yeah, sorry for that pun, but I had to do it).

Life With PlayStation, which runs side by side with Folding@home, provides you with a 3D globe that depicts live cloud movement, as well as up-to-date weather reports from the Weather Channel, news from Google, and live web cam images via Earth Television Network. But what am I babbling on for, just watch the summary vid for yourself:

A big thanks to Stallyon84 for the tip!

» Interesting...

I see no real purpose in this program... I use my computer for those purposes.

Then it serves no real purpose for you. You are aware though, that there people without PCs, yeah?

by Darkthunder90 - 2008-09-18 05:36
» @Matt

If they don't own a computer which is actually useful, I doubt they would spend 300 dollars on a game console.

by bolognajoe - 2008-09-18 06:03
» Of course

you can do this with your PC but this is all part of Sony's plan to bring the PC into your living room. You can watch videos, look at pictures and browse the web with the PC too but some people like to use the ps3 for that while sitting on the couch with their family. I'm sure we'll see much more of this type of thing coming from Sony in the future and a lot of it will be hit or miss with gamers but might interest other people in the house.

» well

Sure, as do most people. Still, it's as fun little application to have on your PS3.

You don't have to leave it on all the time. It runs Folding@Home while you are using Life with Playstation.

by Xis - 2008-09-18 16:04
» NO

its just an app you use it then turn it off when your done, wtf? wait, your didnt make sense you why would you leave your PS3 on to view news and weather by leaving it hmmm... anyway just turn the thing off when you see what you want besides I've left my Ps3 running for Days before not that I would recommend it but I trust my best electronic friend

» dudes....

My PC has been off for probably no more then 15-20 hours in the last 6 yrs....it is still going strong....this paranoia about leaving your PS3 on is ridiculous, you could run it non-stop (and i've talked to many people that do, running gaming servers in linux or folding) and there would be no problems.

In actuality it less stressful on an electrical device to keep a current flowing through it constantly, rather then turning it off and on all the time....

» Sweet!

Tomorrow I'm updating my PS3. This look very interesting.

In future, they can make it do what "Google Earth" does, zooming-in all the way street.

» @ Xis

good idea, ps3 is like a cheap pc. i have installed 2 linux platforms on my ps3 but neither of them can go online. not sure what to do? anyway, ps3 can do almost anything a pc can do when you install linux, use openoffice, firefox, and some graphics programs, use a printer etc.
