Screenshots found in magazine scans of Grand Theft Auto 4 (PS3, 360) spreads can only go so far. Although the scans do prove useful in fleshing out a lot of details for us, what we want to see right now are actual screens (without the graininess of scanners). Hence, the pics below.
This first batch of screenshots are many and varied. Some of which show Niko, some of which show Liberty City itself. Check out the leaves on the trees, water effects, skyscrapers in the distant horizon, and even down to the pockmarks on Niko's face. Yeah, it's all about the detail here... And for what it's worth, those nighttime screens are looking fab:

Yea, not really the greatest shots, I guess they aren't going for amazing visuals, just more up-to-date. I still don't like the player model, it really lacks a good mesh and texture.

Do you really think that the PS3's cell is inefficient that it will have 10 minute load times? I don't think so. What does the CPU have to do with load times? It's more like the disks load times. And Rockstar themselves have said that there will be no load times between islands or when walking into houses etc. You are just some fu-cking idot that wants to start a flame war. I asume your another 360 ***** sucker. I'd like to see a game like Lair on the 360. You won't because the inefficient and weak CPU in the 360.

The PS3 screens are the best....360 screens looks like a crap...
There are NO PS3 screens and 360 screens! All with have so far are GTA4 screens for both versions.

As far as we know, All of those screenshots could be on the PS3, the 360 or a combination of both. There is NOTHING to say this pic is from the PS3 version and that pic is from the 360 version. All YOU are doing is deciding to yourself, "Oh, I like that pic, so that must be the PS3 version" and "Nah, I don't like that, so that's the 360". Which is typical fanboy stupidity. You need to work on getting your IQ up into double figures.
Given what we've seen from some multi-format games so far (such as Splinter Cell), what you consider to be the 'best' screens may actually be the 360 version! Ever thought of that? So you can't just assume that the PS3 will look the best when we know nothing about each screenshot other than what we see. I expect they'll look virtually identical upon release anyway, like many multi-format games.

'Meh' is right, we don't know which pictures are which, and we don't know if we're seeing screens from both versions or just one. Why don't you tell us which pictures are PS3 and which are 360 if you think you're so smart, and above all, state the reasons. Otherwise, stfu and stop wasting people's time.

When we can have peace and harmony between the two consoles. Everyone knows that the xbox360 is an overheating piece of plastic. You'll probably go through 5 360's just to beat GTA4. Then you'll probably break your DVD drive after having to swap out the 4 disks that come with the game. Go PS3, why? "Home", a better graphics card Nvidia>ATI, cell pwns and your ps3 will last longer. HAHA halo3 sux.......

Actually, the ATI card in the 360 is technically superior to the Nvidia card in the PS3. I prefer Nvidia over ATI as well, but it's the truth. For someone who wants harmony between the two consoles, you sure do like to sh*t-talk and lie about the 360... BTW, GTA is rumored to be a 100 hour game, and I racked up over 400 hours in Oblivion on my launch system.
GTA4 looks awsome, cant wait. As for the 360 Fanboys, good to see they frequent the PS3 section of QJ so much, all this interes is good for the PS3.

But facts are facts, the GPU in the 360 is better. In addition, there is more memory available for 360 games than PS3 games, because the OS and video of the PS3 requires 52MB *more* memory than the 360 (84MB compared to 32MB). Perhaps the extra memory explains why games like SC looked better on the 360. That said, I'm sure with good coding and the devs making good use of the advantages of the 360 and PS3, both versions of GTA4 should look about the same.
