Rain - Image 1Heavy Rain was Playboy's game of the show at E3 this year, and everyone who's laid eyes on it at Leipzig can't seem to stop talking about it. If you haven't seen the game's premiere trailer yet, you really ought to check it out.

Sitting down for a quick word with Eurogamer, Quantic Dream president, David Cage confirmed there's definitely going to be a demo and talked about the possibility of seeing downloadable additions to the game.

Responding to whether we were likely to see a demo Cage stated;

"Yes, of course, there will be a demo,"

Cage did mention however, that given the story-centric nature of the game the demo would probably have to be entirely separate from the main story as he doesn't want to spoil it for anyone;

"We need to think about it, but I wouldn't want to spoil the story," Cage added. "We've spent a lot of time working on the story this time; we've worked with people from Hollywood, script writers, to really make it just right. And I think it's a very unusual story for a videogame, so I think people will be quite surprised."

Cage also mentioned that the gamplay segment witnessed in the trailer was also from a separate episode not connected to the game's main story, and that the fact that you could have separate episodes included in the narrative would mean downloadable content is something they're considering;

"This is something it's really too early to talk about, but it's definitely a possibility. There's so many possibilities with this thing, because what matters now is just the story you want to tell. Do you have a good story to tell? Then you can do it, because this thing isn't specific to the series. You can tell any story with this interface, because it's entirely contextual."

Heavy Rain is due out in late 2009.

Just look at the Graphics! Story comes first, of course, but look at the Graphics.

The GRAPHICS!

» Graphics?

What graphics? That's not computer generated. They're using real live-action footage here of real people...

PSYCH! ^_^ Hehe!

Just messing with ya. But yeap. The graphics are exquisite. They're using motion-capture tech.

Even as far back in 2006 when they showed the tech demo, their graphics engine was already showing a lot of promise. Two years later (now, in 2008), they've obviously raised the bar even more!

And yeah. Story's really a main factor for me. I think that's what appeals to me the most. And Heavy Rain's right up my alley: suspense, thriller, mystery... and NOIR! Can't get enough of noir-ish games!
