Ok, everyone! I'll need a headcount! One, two, three, fo-- gods dammit, could

everyone please stand still and not eat each other for at least five seconds?!

Yes, after some confusion at GDC, turns out Dead Rising 2 will be getting multiplayer after all. Sweet! 6,000 zombies on screen and now multiplayer too? Yummy.

Multiplayer support was confirmed by series creator Keiji Inafune last week at Captivate '09. The way he sees the current market, "We're at a point in game history that you need to have some form of multiplayer component in a game. Single-player alone is not going to cut it."

True enough, games like Resident Evil 5 and, more recently, Uncharted 2 have been gotten multiplayer components. Let's just hope that the time spent in developing multiplayer for Dead Rising 2 doesn't detract from the single-player experience too.

With that said, what kind of multiplayer will it be? The usual co-op or versus, capture the flag gametype, etc? Hmm... How about a Left 4 Dead Rising 2 multiplayer mode? Well, here's what Inafune had to say:

So rest assured we are going to put multiplayer in the game, but I can't go into specifics about what type of multiplayer as that directly relates to some of the game systems that we don't want to talk about at this event. It will be online multiplayer, so keep that in mind.

Capcom's Dead Rising 2 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC is currently on a TBA status for its release date.

» Meh

It's a shame they still impose the 72h limit for story mode.

dude i don't think it's a typo... looks like someone didn't get the joke. he was hinting at L4D type of multiplayer in DR2.

Left for dead rising 2. I like that lol.

L4D is a pretty fun game with a ton of replay value, I'm hoping this game will have some kind of co'op or something similar to L4D. Hell, I like it if this game rips off L4D and has a 4+ player campaign to play through that would be fun even if they did steal the idea.

On a side note I don't agree that all games are required to have a multiplayer aspect to them. Multiplayer may add to a game but it can't take away from it and a game that can't exist without multiplayer is just a very shallow game thats all.
