Lair video from CES |

Ó
Well yeah, okay, some of you probably have. But for the majority of non-YouTube-surfing QJ readers out there, this might be their first time to catch this vid posted by gstekjansen on YouTube which shows more of them fire-breathing, wing-flapping dragons as they hover and swerve through the castles and game environments.
And as you guys probably know, Lair will have 1080p support and tilt control compatibility. But unfortunately for us, the quality of this vid right here doesn't exactly show us the wow factor of having it run on 1080p, nor does it show how the tilts work. Nonetheless, it's still 23 seconds worth of gameplay glimpses and surely, none of us are complaining about that, right? So anyhoo, enough with the chitty chatty yadda yadda, we'll just let you take in the fiery goodness of the vid below. Enjoy!

One System to Rule them All - X360''
Lol umm one word 'denial'. You stupid fanboy is that all you got?? PS3 is takin over the 360 in graphics and you just cant accept it lol. Take a look at the GT HD game on PS3. That game beats anything on 360 in graphics and don't deny it, cause you know it's true. Even Lair is superiour in graphics to anything out on 360. Sorry but you bought the wrong system hahaha! Now get off the ps3 section you stupid ass-wipe!

gow hads good graphics for now but its graphics its not going to be that good wnen better games come out

personally, I love the PS3 (i own one of course), but I also respect the 360. why can't we all just stop the hating and PLAY what we think is best rather than preach it?

Gears of War does pwn everything, but what else? is that hte only game out of the entire year you guys have had?
you cant play 2 games for 10 years now can you?

Watch the HD trailer and you will see the detail in the game and the environments is just amazing.
Not to mention Ut2K7 is coming to the PS3 which puts GoW to shame.
Also Forza at this point in time is far worse then the GTHD demo.

One of those games is LAIR.
The devs said that even if Blu-ray wasnt an issue on the Xbox360, the processing power of the Cell SPEs can not be replicated on the Xbox360.

Talking about an upcoming game is fine, but don't do it relative to another (already released) one.

It LOOKS great, but will the gameplay match the graphics like GOW? Will they fix the frame rate problems which is reported to be terrible at times? We'll have to wait and see
"Not to mention Ut2K7 is coming to the PS3 which puts GoW to shame."
How will UT2K7 put GOW to shame? Stop being so dumb when defending the PS3. They're not the same kind of game and we have yet to see how good it will be as a game or how good it will be on the PS3.

That same dev, Julian to be precise, also used to say the GC was more powerful than the XBox and that the XBox couldn't do what they were doing on the GC. A year or so later, he changed his tune.
The Forza 2 developers say what they're doing with the game can only be acheived on the 360.
Sorry, but I refuse to take the word of console exclusive developers as the gospel truth. I leave that kind of blind belief to fanboys like you. ;)

Not Because of the Cpu [Which will be a major factor]
But Because of the [built-in HDD of the PS3]
The Limiting Factor on All Systems in this Generation is the RAM...512Mb is Simply not Enough
I am Short on Time right Now....But i will talk More On How Developers Will Be able to use the Hdd to Stream Data and Increase the Amount of Available Ram for the PS3...[Just Like Lair which Uses the Hdd] and was Able to Acheive 1080P with All the Incredible Detail..
Watch Out for the Article... ;)

I suppose you have not heard that the PC game called CRYSIS will NOT run on the PS3 or 360 as both are not powerfull enough.
So maybe you should start bringing the PC into your arguments now and tell us how the PS3 is gonna Exceed that to.

Other than that, this game look amazing!

Hideo Kojima (creator of the popular Metal Gear Solid): Maybe some nuance or a small details here and there might be different, but I feel that hardware is no longer a matter. I'm just talking about PS3, 360 and PC. Revolution is totally different, but there are really no differences among the other three.

There you go! Any PC, PS3 or 360 can be ported between the 3 systems. Straight from your favorite developers mouth.

This I agree with in terms of being a limiting factor overall, but I wouldn't say it's not enough. For the purposes of this gen console gaming, it's just about right.
-"But Because of the [built-in HDD of the PS3]"
I do think you exaggerate the benefits of the HDD on the PS3 compared to the 360. There is very little, if anything, which developers can do on the PS3's HDD that cannot be achieved on the 360. Just because every 360 doesn't have a HDD is not an issue, since a game engine can be designed to make use of it if it's available (as seen in Oblivion for caching).
Yesterday (I think), someone here replied to you about the Lair interview on IGN which you said talks about streaming from both Blu-ray and the HDD. However, in the interview, the dev only talks about streaming from Blu-ray, nothing about the HDD.
The other point about the HDD is space. It's one thing to give gamers an option to dump 4-5 GBs of files on their HDDs to improve load times, but they'll need to dump at least that amount on the HDD to offer benefits from streaming data from the HDD. Surely you don't expect devs to DEMAND that gamers give up 5GB of HDD just to play their game? Especially when many PS3 gamers will have a 20GB HDD! And if you say they can make it optional, then it could just as easily be implemented on the 360, since optional means the game will function with or without that data on a HDD.
-"But i will talk More On How Developers Will Be able to use the Hdd to Stream Data and Increase the Amount of Available Ram for the PS3..."
I look forward to it :D, especially in light of what I've said above. I will also be interested in why you think the use of the HDD in this way will be unique to the PS3.

Yes, I asked him about it here;

I've just replied to him in that thread (so no need to repeat it here :)).

1. Xbox fanboys are still angry that the PS2 outsold the Xbox by so much, not to mention the Gamecube
2. PS fanboys are angry that the PS3 is getting bad press, and that the 360 is doing really good right now
I'm sure there is many more reasons why there acting like immature bastards, but those two are the only ones I could bother coming up with. :)
Im a fan of Sony, but I still respect the Wii and 360, infact, I bring my PS3 over to my friends house regularly, and we play that, and his 360 and we don't ever argue over which is better, we just play gow, and R:Fom, Fear, Carbon and have fun, to bad most people here are to immature, or blog comments could actually be worth something.

Not Neccecarily...a Talented Devoloping Company can Get an Excellent Boost in Performance by Pre-Installing [2.5GB of Compressed Data containing the Most Streamed Files in the Game[Like the most Frequent used textures]
I have Posted Part[1] of the Hdd Usage on the Ken-Kutaragi,s Thread,The Other Parts Will Come WHEN-I-HAVE-TIME ;)

That's essentially what we've seen already. Firstly, there's copying large amounts of game data to the HDD to speed up loading. What, prey tell, do you suppose is in that 4-5GB of data that some PS3 games copy to the HDD! (Not needed on the 360 due to faster optical drive).
The idea that pre-installing data is going to help speed up games in general during gameplay is limited. You yourself have pointed out that the level sizes in Lair are up to 4GB, and therefore have been happy to suggest that this game will come close to filling a Blu-ray disk, so a mere 2.5GB of data on the HDD is going to be of negligable help during gameplay. The best you will see are improved load times, but even that is limited, because generally, the bigger the game, the more has to be copied onto the HDD to improve load times.
Secondly, there's caching. The whole point about caching is to ensure that frequently and recently used data is available to be copied from the faster cache (HDD) when needed rather than from the slower original medium (optical disk).
