Kynogon and Digimask sign Epic's IPP |
Ó
The Integrated Partners Program or IPP was recently started by Epic Games. The objective of the contract is to have other companies integrate their own engines with Unreal Engine to produce cross-platform technologies. It actually is a good move for Epic Games, further expanding on the grasp of its cutting-edge graphics and a best-of-breed toolset engine. The first ones to join were IDV and Fonix Corporation. The two specializes on plant and tree animation and voice recognition technology respectively. Today, the IPP wagon gets a little more crowded as two more companies pledge allegiance with Epic Games. Digimask Technology is the first of the two and Epic's VP Mark Rein is more than happy with the partnership.
"People often ask me if they get their face in a game. Unreal Engine 3 licensees can now license technology from Digimask that provides the functionality to make that possible in their games," Rein announces.
Also, leader in A.I. middleware Kynogon also signed an IPP contract. The company is mostly known for creating real-time behavior simulation for NPCs. Kynogon CEO Pierre Pontevia points out: "We have customers who are using both Kynapse and Unreal concurrently. This is an important step in our effort to support them."
With these developments, things are getting better and better for Unreal Engine. It seems as well that Epic Games is having the time of its life. We ourselves can only watch and wait in awe until a new technology comes and challenges this dominion.
