Last April 26, a ripple went through the entire gaming community when Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.">SCEI, now chairman">Ken Kutaragi, a.k.a. Father of Playstation, a.k.a. Crazy Ken announced that he was relinquishing his position as the CEO of SCEI to fellow Sony executive, Kaz Hirai. This was of course a big thing, as not only was the creator of the PlayStation handing over the reins of the whole PlayStation empire, but he was also leaving the division which he has built from the ground up, after having saved it from Sony's back shelf. When he made the announcement of his departure, Kutaragi was known to have said that he was "looking forward to building on this vision in my next endeavour". Many wondered about what that next endeavour may be, but if Kutaragi speaks true, and EE Times translated correctly, then ever the Engineer that he actually is, Kutaragi may already be working on the next versions of the PlayStation.
In an exclusive interview which he granted to EE Times, Kutaragi is quoted to have said:
I have the vision of Playstation 4, 5 and 6, which will merge into the network. ... Now I'm ready to start working with a much wider world.
Also, Kutaragi has reportedly already provided the PS3 design team with "his vision for reducing costs along with design models extending about two years into the future". Sadly, he did not elaborate on what those visions may be, but we can perhaps surmise that it may have something to do with making further use of the PS3's networking capabilities.
Meanwhile, EE Times reports that Kutaragi will remain on good terms with Sony, but that his future endeavors will be "largely independent of Sony".

so what happened to the 10 year life span of PS3? i am predicting that if Xbox and Nintendo comes out with their new nextgens Sony will be forced to do the same thing. because if not they will be behind again.

they didnt say there making a ps4 yet. maybe in 5 years they will start making a ps4
Just because they're designing a PS4, doesn't mean it's going to be released in 5 years. I expect this to come out around 2015, that seems like a good date. Hopefully by then we'll have the technology for cheap HD Holograms and Protein Discs (2 Terabytes per disc). Now that would rule :)
If the reason for all the blaming going to Ken is from investor complaints then these people need to be reassured that they made a wise decision and wait it out. More people will invest in the PS3 as time goes by. It has only been less than a year and the Playstation lifecycle is long. I know several people right now who has experienced the PS3 that currently doesn't have one and said that it is the best gaming experience they have had so far and are planning to buy one in the future.
PS3 is the Dodo of the next gen consoles, sales are down in Japan they need another system..

lol the dodo of the next gen, no thats the 360. Its dead in japan. The PS3 will have a slow start but should do well just like the psp. Although I see the Wii staying ahead in sales because its cheap. Once Sony drops the PS3 to $400, there will be little reason to get a 360 in any territory aside from Gears of War and Halo 3.
