If you're currently playing the awesomeness that is Konami and Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, then you're probably swamped by a lot of information and back story in the Metal Gear Solid universe. There's no need to play through all the first three MGS games just to refresh your memory, however, now that Konami is going to include the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Database with tomorrow's PlayStation Store update.

Available as a free download, the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Database provides all the information you need concerning the game's storyline as well as every character's profiles and back stories. If Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is your first MGS game, then you might as well check the Database out instead of trying to play through the first MGS games just to check out the backstory.

If you're thinking twice about downloading the MGS4 Database for fear of spoilers, don't worry because all MGS4-related spoilers are blacked out until you've finished the game. Neat, yes?

Konami also has something else in store for Metal Gear Solid fans, and they're waiting in the EXTRAS option of the game's main menu. These free downloadable items include a new camouflage as well as a new music track that you can try out in your in-game iPod. Be sure to check it out often; Konami will add more free content as time passes.

» Not too shabby

Well that's good they're releasing a complete storyline dissection, because MGS games have pretty complex plots.

funny article on it at www.marioisfat.com right now.

I think Konami should do this for a few of their other series right now, namely Castlevania and a few others.

» what?

castlevania has a plot? never knew. i actually haven't played any of the games. i just figured it was Vampire (hunter?) vs monsters

» This must be that "surprise" they spoke of..

Ryan Payton apparently promised all fans a surprise for buying the game legally. Woohoo, this is actually pretty awesome!

I couldn't agree more. I think this is a great idea and it would be cool to see this on more games with long epic stories.

Guess what, you can download the Database from the Japanese store

And it has all languages included already :)

So, you can set the language to English, Spanish and several others, have fun everyone.

» whats the point?

Today's Thursday, why go through all that trouble when you can just download it from our store? >_>

» although...

It doesn't read gamesaves that aren't from the Japanese game. So there's nothing on the MGS4 spoilers that get revealed once you beat it.

Which trouble ?

It's as simple as login and click on MGS Database.

And at the time I posted that message, it wasn't on the european store yet.

if you have never played mgs before then it doesnt matter if it reads gamesaves yet. its still very helpful. I'm waiting for the US store to update. probably wont be for awhile maybe around 3pm-6pm.
