Dying to play? - Image 1 Who can forget the bone-sawing life lessons as taught by Jigsaw? Well, Konami sure didn't, and they're set to publish the video game based on the Saw movies. Originally, this game was to go to Brash Entertainment. That poster you're seeing was made by Brash to promote the game.

But with a breach of contract, Konami was able to sign a deal with Lions Gate Films who owns the rights to the Saw movies. With its experience in Silent Hill, this publisher knows its blood.

No details on gameplay yet, whether you get to orchestrate your own sadistic scenarios on the poor squandered souls, or if you're gonna be the poor victim desperately trying to get out of the death traps. Either of the two would make me a very happy Saw fan. Just not a police-work game, okay Konami? I don't want to play some cop hunting Jigsaw down.

The voice of Jigsaw will thankfully be played by the original Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell. It's also set to be released for the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC. Let's just hope that this game doesn't turn out to be a Teen-rated sell out. Let's go for Mature, Konami!

Oh and just a note, since the game isn't Brash's to make now, that whoisjigsaw.com on the poster doesn't work anymore.

hmmm.

this could be the start of a great game series... if they do it right, lets see if the developers are truly fans of this genre

I'm under the impression that Konami's Team Silent is on this case? I sure hope so!

If this turns out to be a series of games, I hope they'll be better than the movies. I wonder if it'll even use the same plot? As good as the first Saw was, I don't really see how it would translate into a game. Unless each trap was a minigame of sorts. But even then, the main bathroom trap wouldn't really work as a game in my opinion. My guess is that it'll have a similar plot to Saw II but probably in it's own universe. The further they stay away from the film's plots the better.

meh

I know I've seen the first few of the movies but I can't remember a thing about them apart from me getting very bored at times. I guess the concept could work as a game perhaps. We'll see.

i guess the breech in contract was making an ugly poster that doesnt even come close to the atmosphere it should portrait :P

I dont get the hype about saw

I've seen all of the movies, but jigsaw is a hypocrit because he himself is commiting sins, therefore he should kill himself in a torturous manner. This is why the movies don't work for me, because the main character is supposedly doing all this torturing for a greater good, to cleanse society of sin and only does stuff to people who are supposed to deserve it, yet his actions are sinful and so are his apprentice's actions. Some of the justifications behind why he straps people to the divices are BS. Anyway thats just my opinion. How on earth are they going to make a game of this? Get the key out of the maggoty guts before the time runs out? Simply doesn't work in game format since the player is perfectly clean safe and dry.

Thing is, he's never actually killed anybody.

He only puts them in life-altering and escapable traps. Which in his eyes, isn't a sin. Remember, he's a psychopath who was diagnosed with cancer and has a short time left to live. He just happens to "care" enough about other people's lives to make sure they don't waste it. He could never train an apprentice mainly becuase they cannot understand the value of life the way he does. Though the guy in the latest movie sorta got it right, but that movie sucked. The only reason I kept watching those movies was cause of the plot altering twists. Saw V didn't even have one. (yes, the you could call the trap being "backwards" in the end a twist, but it does nothing to the plot at all the second time you watch it). If a sequel never happened, the movie may have gone down as a really good horror movie. But of course, they had to cater to all the 15 year olds who got wind of Saw when it got big.
