Coded Arms: Assault - Image 1We have some unfortunate news today for fans awaiting Coded Arms: Assault on the PS3. According to Playstation Universe, they have received official word, finally, from Konami that the game is no longer in production.

Canceled, in other words. If you guys will remember, rumors about the cancellation of the said title first circulated January of last year. But since Konami did not confirm it, and since they still had the release date up on their site, people assumed that it was just a rumor.

But now: "There are no current plans to bring Coded Arms: Assault to the PS3 at this time." These words of a Konami representative finally nails the coffin shut. It is unknown as to the reasons behind the discontinued production, or for how long has it been shut down.

# uhh,...you know that this is about 'Coded Arms', right?damonous 2008-05-24 02:20
We're talking about the game that got loads of dog@$# reviews on the PSP (both iterations).

While I agree that some of the pre-release promo screenshots looked interesting (with the 'res lines' in the sky, etc) ....I'm sure that they canceled it because they realized that their 'window of opportunity' had passed: in other words, with so many other killer FPS games already out in the market, how would they be able to hit their sales target?

This definitely would have been in the category of "Project Gundam" or "Ridge Racer 7": games you put out before the REAL games arrive.

Sure, it might have been interesting (even now), but how many people would actually pick it up instead of HL2, Unreal III, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, etc, etc, etc.?

Well, since reviews don't mean ANYTHING, those games still sold pretty well, but the 2nd one was horrible imo. I was looking forward to Coded Arms Assault, but looks like I can just erase that game off my list.
