Konami confirms Metal Gear Online beta for Europe |
Ó
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has confirmed today the schedule for Metal Gear Online's Beta in Europe. The region will be able to test the game starting April 21st to May 6th.
The European PlayStation Store will offer the Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta software on April 17th to those who want to sample the game. Two maps, “Blood Bath” and “Groznyi Grad”, will be included in the beta for testing.
Metal Gear Online will launch as part of Guns of the Patriots in June as a Starter Pack, comprising five unique stages including “Ambush Alley,” where trenches and sandbags litter an arena built for close and medium range combat; “Blood Bath,” a two-tier battle setting; and “Groznyi Grad,” the expansive Shagohod development complex from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater which features human catapults that propel players to different areas of the environment.
Rounding out the five stage set are the dusty, Middle Eastern alleyways found in Guns of the Patriots entitled “Midtown Maelstrom,” and the rooftop settings of “Urban Ultimatum”. An expansion to Metal Gear Online is planned for launch within the year.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots launches on June 12th, 2008. All is looking good for this anticipated PS3 exclusive to deliver the experience it promises.

"and “Groznyi Grad,” the expansive Shagohod development complex from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater which features human catapults that propel players to different areas of the environment."
I'm pretty sure you got your info wrong here. The map that had the catapult on the trailer was City Under Seige (CUS). Groznyi Grad (from what I've seen in all the gameplay videos of the Japan beta) has no catapults.
Yes and no about the catapults, because if you download the psn video of MGO at the very end you see a guy launching him self into the air, now im not sure if thats part of it or not but it was in a video.
why Europe? I think America should get the Beta.. because... ok yes Europeans are good players, But North America has more citizens and lets face it were more completive here. we would push the game very hard witch i think gives the best results
What rock have you been living under, America was scheduled for the Beta long before EU. U.S still gets it on the 17th for download with a beta key, and then game play starts the 21st of April.
Yes your right. On the PSN video of MGO there is a guy launching himself in the air at the end of the video.. But that guy was on the CUS map, not Groznyi Grad. And from what I saw of Groznyi Grad there is no catapult (unless they added it in between betas).
I don't even really like MGS, so I couldn't careless. I may rent MGS4 though. Since there's so much commotion about another silly video game. It'll end up like Halo 3 a overhyped disappointment.
The information came from a press release straight from Konami Digital Entertainment, so it's either it's a map feature we haven't seen yet or they're losing their marbles. My bet is the former. :)
not sure bout that
games with a good storyline and gameplay and you say its overhyped?
Halo 3 was a totally different story. One example is how Halo 3 came out looking like a polished version of Halo 2. Look at the graphics for Mgs4 compared to Mgs3 and you'll see how different the two games are with that. Metal gear games have always been top notch when it comes to story and I'm pretty sure this one will too.
If anything this game deserves the Halo 3 type of hype because its actually a great game.
