If you know anybody who still hasn't gotten into Metal Gear Online and want to try it out for themselves, then here's some good news.

To rope in more new Metal Gear Online players, Konami has announced a "Welcome Rookie" campaign that will give new users a special codec pack that features new voice content and 5,000 in-game rewards points.

The campaign is open only to players who have not previously installed and registered the retail version of the game on their PS3s. The campaign ends on February 16.

This sucks. I want 5,000 free reward points. I've been playing for a month and only have 1100 points.

Gave out free points in November/December to those who logged in. I don't remember how many were given but I got them and bought some stuff from the store.

If you've only got a few points, you're not playing well enough.

» Uhh...

This might just be because I signed up on the release but...I have none of the expansions, yet have 14000 Reward Points. I know they gave out free points as well as giving out 50 (though occasionally I get 100 randomly) when I log in for the first time every day.

Still, I'd rather invest in the different expansions.

And stop complaining, most of the items in the shop are junk unless you didn't put much thought into your initial character creation for camoflauge purposes.

Still, I hope this expansion gets more people to join.

MGO is dead, it died a long time ago. The game itself is pretty good stll, it's just the players, the lag, and the glitches. People in MGO suck, theres 10% of the gamers there who are cool and the rest are douches.

Oh and theres not a lot we can do in MGO except random boring skirmishes. Wheres the fun in that? I'm a huge huge MGS fan.. but this game is not Metal Gear. *insert 0 star here*

it was 10,000 points if you logged on during the campaign, then there was a lottery where 30 users (10 from 3 regions) won 100,000 points. You were probably one of those who won.
