Koei Tecmo CEO politely urges Sony to cut PS3 price |
Ó

Another CEO has joined in the call for a PS3 price cut. Unlike that other guy, however, this one's being way more polite. He used "please", for one thing.
Koei Tecmo CEO Kenji Matsubara recently told CVG that while he admittedly doesn't have a clear view on Sony's cost structure, they would really welcome a PS3 price cut. In fact, he has already made his company's wishes known to Sony reps in past meetings.
"Whenever I discuss this with Sony reps I always ask them: 'Please cut the price', but I don't have a clear view on Sony's situation," said Matsubara. "Yes, from a publisher's point of view we would welcome a price cut for PS3, and we are waiting, definitely.
"It's definitely a way of boosting the PS3 market, but it's Sony's strategy and I don't know their cost structure. Sony introduced cutting-edge technology in the PS3, that's why people in the industry accept that the PS3 cost is so high, but we'd welcome a price cut."
And so would a lot of people. If all these price cut rumors turn out to be true, Matsubara -- and all of those who want to buy a PS3 but can't afford it yet -- may be getting his wish in the next few months. Let's hope it happens.

Seriously, I think they're just ramping up production on their PS3 slim which hopefully will be the price cut everyone wants. They just need to have enough of them made to cover what they forecast the demand will be.

Ha. I also laugh at you, claiming $399 is an alright price. Fool. I slapped down my $699 (CAD) for my PS3 and havn't regretted it even once.

so much to think about...

A controller with replaceable battery packs.
And screw the wireless, it's 4 feet from my router anyway.
I know it isn't going to happen but I can always dream.

To be honest I made several false assumptions. At first I thought blu-ray movies was gonna be the bomb. It turns out it actually doesn't look that much good from standard DVD, and considering bluray rentals cost 1-2 dollars more, and that there isn't a cheap affordable way to burn bluray movies, it is considered to me a waste.
Now my PS3 comes with a hdd, xbox360 arcade just comes with 256mb internal memory card. But I've just bought 5 games, and have been lent like 4 games, ad their installs have left me with less than around 5gb.
Now as gamer what mostly disappoints me is how the cheaper console has more good games. The PS3 does have a good amount of great games, but the 360 has more. On top of that, some games lag more on PS3, and most games do look better on the 360 than on the PS3. This is probably the most disappointing thing about the PS3.

Sony has the gamer base and wants the PS2 users to upgrade to PS3. How to do that. mmm
Got to be able to entice the PS2 gamer with an investment in PS2 games. mmm
Well one way is to enable PS2 game play on the PS3 (enter the PS3 slim) so instead of building PS2 boxes build PS3 slim boxes.
That is when you will see a price cut.
PS2 emulation on the PS3
A cheaper PS3 is a PS3 slim.
My guess is when the current supply of PS2's runs out.
Maybe I should get a second PS2?

When you factor in the 360 costs, it is not at all cheaper. If you wanted to buy the "pro 60gb console", a wi-fi adapter and 2 years live membership it costs more than the PS3 does.
Why do you think that the PS3 has a lack of good games? 'll list the good exclusives PS3 has: Uncharterd 1 and 2, Gran Turismo 5, inFamous, Killzone 2, Metal Gear SOlid 4, Resistance Fall of Man, Resistance 2, MAG, Agent, God of War 3, Motorstorm, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Ratchet and Clank Crack in Time, Wipeout HD and theres heaps more.
The 360 has these good exclusives: Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Fable 2 and Forza 3. The rest of 360 games are on PC. I don't really know why your dissapointed with the games :)
