Koei lifts the curtains on Dynasty Warriors 7

wuKoei Tecmo announced Dynasty Warriors 7 (or Shin Sangoku Musou 6 in Japan) last month, but now, they've finally spilled the beans. As you might expect, the PS3 exclusive will come with 3D support. That's not all - the publisher has added new features into this installment to set it apart from all the redundancy in the series.

First is that they're giving the one-man armying a new cinematic appeal. Supporting that would be seamless transitions between battle and cutscene.

For this game, you will now be able to wield two weapons at a time and be able to switch between them at will. Using the new "Variable Attack" system, you can execute combos while switching weapons. Say you start off poking enemies with a spear, then you can cap the combo off with a small ballista. Officers, however, will still retain their natural talent with certain weapons.

Dynasty Warriors 7 will also sport a new Chronicle Mode, which features three new playable characters - Sima Shi, Sima Zhao, and Sanniang. Both Simas are sons of Wei tactician Sima Yi, and are historically the last of the Sima family to serve under Wei.

The game is expecting a March 2011 release only for the PS3.

Thanks again Peter!

Man. I remember playing Dynasty Warriors 3 WAAAYYYY back in the day.. I'm not sure how I feel about the new generation, though .. I thought the weapons made the characters and taking away that uniqueness makes me sad
