Kiosks invade 1,000 "places" in Japan

What with all the related articles we've posted about PS3 kiosks, we might just start putting up a sub-blog solely dedicated to that category (and while we're at it: a sub-blog for the whole Lik-Sang/Sony case). And every time we post another PS3 kiosk, some of you guys would breakdown in heart-rending sobs, proclaiming that that's another X number of PS3 units less to be sold out to the market.

While we wouldn't want to cause any alarm (and further shedding of tears), we do have to report that, according to [the Google translation of] Famitsu, 1,000 stores in Japan will be invaded by PS3 kiosks by the end of the year. No, not 1,000 units. That's 1,000 stores! As to how many kiosks each store would be getting, we wouldn't know.

These kiosks, some of which are already being set up as we speak, would have demos of Devil May Cry 4, Power Smash 3, Ridge Racer 7, and Gran Turismo HD. The PlayStation Network will also be activated in these kiosks and feature the Cross Media Bar function. This means that online content - pics, vids, music, and all - would be downloaded, installed, and/or updated into the kiosks.

Take a look at the pic below. It shows each area and how many stores will get the PS3 kiosks. *teardrops*
