Killzone 2 - Image 1

It's no secret that Killzone 2 is a hot title. It's so hot that I can light my cigarette with it. But if I set it on fire and did that literally, I'd find myself crucified online for showing such irreverence to the PS3 powerhouse. Nah, no way I could do that, not coming from a guy who still has all his games from every gaming platform he ever had with all their boxes intact. Anyway, the sensation that's Killzone 2 is finally waning sales-wise, spending its first month outside NPD's US software sales charts.

On its debut month of February, the Guerrilla Games FPS sold as much as 323,000 copies, of course keeping in mind that it was released at the end of that month. The following month, March, it continued to do well, selling 296,000 more. But in an exclusive chart provided to Gamasutra by the NPD, Killzone 2 experienced a sales slowdown in April, selling only 58,000, not including the 20,000 from its Japanese debut. This is probably why we're seeing Killzone 2 price cuts now.

Still, Killzone 2 has already made SCEA history by being the fastest to break the 500,000 mark in North America, and a million copies sold worldwide.

» not much of a surprise

KZ2 was too overhyped and didn't live up to the expectations of most gamers. Heck, even their new DLC is a failure and only a few downloaded it.

» It lived up...

It's just everyone is f****** comparing it to CoD4. Killzone just showed people how a game should be made. I just don't understand people. They want realism in their games and when they get it they don't like it.

All I know it that that's how games should be graphically. The game was good but they did have less to offer in single player mode.

» sigh

sony overhyped this game sold a pretty low amount and now in april it is being outsold by the godfather 2!!! sony failed too hard if they are going to hype something atleast do it on something that will last, it was the same with Metal gear s**t.

Don't listen to him. Haru3173 is a PS3 hater. I've read a lot of his posts and all were Xbox-fanboy-*****.

Please stop trolling. The game did great. Did you expect it to stay in the top 20 for a year? Its a great game that sold well and made the developers huge profits. It is your own fault for buying into hype. Expect what you will and get what is given to you.

@ haru3173

Do you have anything to back that up or are you pulling number from thin air? I see tons of people playing in the new DLC map and I hope they do more soon.

To silver-tiger Im no PS3 hater, its just KZ2 that I don't like. I have a ps3 I play MGS4 online, LBP, Disgaea 3, Uncharted.

To ackeejag Proof is that most rooms I find are non DLC maps. Tried searching for DLC maps, only a few showed up and most of them aren't even near full.

» you're right

no you're right. obviously more ppl didnt but the DLCs but yeah. After a while KZ2 gets boring. Pretty repetitive.
