Killzone 2 - Image 1With only 12 days left before the much-awaited Killzone 2 hits stores, Sony is giving everyone who's got a US PlayStation Home account a chance to get the demo - for free! This offer is limited, so you better check the details below so you don't miss out.

This is for all you folks who didn't pre-order and don't have access to the demo. All you have to do is go into Home tonight at 6PM Pacific (9PM Eastern) and look for Helghast soldiers. They should be fairly easy to find, given their costume and there would probably be a huge crowd around them. Just walk up to one of them and ask for a code and they'll direct message with you to give you the demo key.

There's a limited amount of codes available, so be sure to set your alarms to remind you, so you can and start patrolling Home early. After you get the codes, just login to the PlayStation Store, enter the code on the upper right corner, download the demo and enjoy.

Don't you think it's a bit late? It's already 9:29 here in the California (which has Pacific Standard Time, for non-Americans, or the idiots).

Leave out "the" in "in the California".

Umm, why do I need a code? Pretty sure I was able to download the demo already from the PSN store without having to do anything special...

yea, i got the demo from the U.K. store like a week ago, and play it on my U.S. account. I's sure that's what everyone else did, I guess this home promotion was for idiots.

I think I am just going to try and find a fake uk address so that I can download resistance and killzone 2 demos. This is so bogus that NA residents have to jump through loops while other places in the world get it without that *****.

# what?sonofken 2009-02-15 22:07
its about time you had to jump through some hoops, what makes you special that you have to get everything first? movies before they are released in the uk, games, pretty much evrything. i think its cool that we get it before you guys in the uk, now you know how it feels lol.

if its any consolation the demo is crap, its not even online demo. the game is well worth getting though, i know this for a fact ;)

# It doesn't have to be a UK accountDjhg2000 2009-02-15 22:12
I too got it last week but with a Swedish account (as I live in Sweden lol).

Anyway wasn't the demo only for those who preordered?

BTW best game ever, why isn't the media all over it over here...?

Its ok for the rest of us though? we haven't even got street fighter hd and to get it we have to just through bigger hoops than you would to get a demo.

I meant that no one should have to jump through hoops.

I'm from Newfoundland - we were Brits until 1949. :P

How about we all just protest instead of being so snobby to one another.

However, I totally hear you - Europe gets the ***** end of the stick a lot with Sony - later releases, lack of content and demos. Well, not just Europe but you know what I mean.

"How about we all just protest instead of being so snobby to one another."

He's got a point. Sony won't listen to us if we're arguing at each other, we have to let them know that **** isn’t right. We're all getting kicked in the butt about something, I personally would like to have a movie rental option on my Playstation store but it’s supposedly only for the American citizens? Not that I have anything against that, but could they at least explain why nobody else gets the feature?

If it’s such an issue with Currency, why can't whoever runs the corporate ends of different countries make it possible for everyone else to spend their dollars to the exact amount as everyone else? I don't see how it can really be that big of an issue, like why cant they make up for a movie rental in the states to be the same price in Europe but instead in Euro's or pounds? Like I don't think Blockbuster has that big of an issue.

I've also made a Japan account to buy many games with Yen dollars by converting my Canadian cash, but whenever I go and do that on an American account why don't I see the option to rent movies? If they can't trust our own Playstation Stores to have a rental option why can’t we just convert our cash to American and rent it from them? It's pretty annoying to be honest because nobody should get a bonus feature on anything, it’s pretty unfair. I also don't see the deal on holding you Europe guys back on things, I myself would complain for you guys to get it.

I have the UK demo, and I must agree.... It is SHORT. But fun ;) the controls are a bit odd though. But alternate 2 works great. Sensitivity is a little low... but that can be adjusted. But don't forget, Japan gets 2 demos. So I want to see what their second demo is like... So make sure you grab a japanese account. :D

I agree.

I have four PSN accounts, one US, one UK, one JAP and one German (my real account).

There are so much differences between then the stores, everytime I check the US store, I see a demo that hasn't been released on the UK or German Store.

I just think its stupid how they've been handing out demos lately. Especially with preorders. Isn't the point of a demo to see if you like it? My friend pre-ordered some game (don't remember which), from GameStop and they wouldn't let him cancel his preorder because he used the code for the demo, sounds kinda stupid in my opinion.

it cool that they're finally using trying to spruce up home with cool contests and stuff. but i wish the prizes we're a little sweeter, ya know? the killzone demo is already free. you dont have to pay extra for it. all you have to do is pre order the game. and i guess some ppl would want to play the game befor the decide to buy. and im very sorry to the lot who feel this way. but the game comes out in two weeks! you can just ask/watch a friend to find out if its good for you. this isnt a bash to anyone. i just feel like a killzone 2 demo prize is kinda dumb when the game comes out in 2 weeks and you could just watch a friend play to see if you like it.

But I just played the Killzone 2 demo. It rocks. Very short. Only one difficulty. No online. I will be buying it for sure after trying the demo - I would have never pre-ordered for a demo. Lots of people do pre-order for the demo. I remember lots of people buying Zone of Enders for the MGS2 demo though. Thank God we're past the needing to buy the official playstation magazine or buy a game to get a demo thing though!

I doubt you'll find any codes through Home. Setup a second account on your ps3 and sign up for the PSN stating you are in the UK.

Here is a combo that works:

Region: UK

Postal Code: E10 6FG

City: London

Country/Prov: England

You can use a fake email addy, no worries. Once setup, download your demo ;)

It has to do with licensing issues, a lot of the licenses are different in different parts of the world. Sony's just starting with their biggest base and going from there. Hopefully you guys will get it eventually, but at least you have that recorder thing, i'd kill for that

Canada has laws regulating what is broadcast in our country believe it or not. A certain amount of anything (TV, radio, etc. albeit different organizations regulating each one) has to be Canadian content or they will not approve. Both Microsoft and Apple had to go through these processes before they could launch their video services.

ZOE was still a decent game though and was worth the purchase.

And if I remember correctly, Crackdown contained the Halo 3 beta. There's nothing to complain about though. It was a damn good game too.

I don't understand why you are crying about releases on PSN. I CAN understand you complaining about getting late releases in stores. That sucks, but as far as PSN goes, just make up an account for the region you need the stuff in. I didn't wait for the Killzone 2 demo to hit here. The fact of the matter is, I know they did it purposely. Strategically speaking, they released the demo to us last (U.S.), because we have been getting a lot of the cool stuff lately, while the rest of the world has been getting boned. Fair enough, but in my opinion, they need to do AWAY with regions on PSN. It's retarded to segregate because of a language barrier or for hyping sales up in a particular region. To make things simpler, they could just use your language settings set from the ps3 xmb itself to set the language and banner images for the store. You know, kinda like how EVERYONE ELSE DOES IT. They could even filter downloads targeted specifically to whatever region they pertain to, like certain programs for periph's (like the TV crap) that only work in Europe or Japan or whatever. Filtering demos, downloadable games and the like is completely boneheaded. They can't stop you anyways because they don't filter regions by IP address, and they don't verify physical street addresses so you can falsify your information to grab up all the goodies only available in another region. They don't even force you to activate your account through the supplied email. Obviously, it would be a pain in the ass to track a bunch of email addresses just for the purpose of activating accounts, but they don't utilize this feature that MANY forums have been using for years. I had the killzone 2 demo as soon as it hit, because I browse on all the accounts I have to see what I want. It doesn't even restrict me from using it particular to each account since everything I put on the ps3 is accessible from any account i'm logged into. So what's the point? Seems like a waste of money to host every individual server for each region.
