Ken Kutaragi to focus more on networks |
Ó
The father of the Sony Playstation, SCEI, now chairman">Ken Kutaragi, has given word that he intends on focusing on networks. He told Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily that he sees that a new niche focuses on servers and networks allowing users to "perform large calculations and enjoy content together."This is not surprising, considering the success of the PS3 in the Folding at Home project. His new position as technological adviser to the CEO of Sony Howard Stringer may actually be advantageous to Kutaragi in this undertaking since he is working closer with the tech-boys at Sony. Kutaragi's plans encompass cell phones and other similar products which have been getting support from SCEI and other parties.
Kutaragi has also noted that "Since I led on networking with the PS3, I think it is my
responsibility to push further in that direction." Whether or not this latest venture will pay off is still unknown, although the ground work is already there considering that the databases for his project are already existing. You can read more on this via our read link.

I am happy he will work on networks it seem he wanted more hand on development.
Contrary to the very negative recent articles by QJ.net, this seems to put Kutaragis transition in a much better light. As the right-hand man and technician to the CEO, this is an extremely smart arrangement. Working in a large corporate IT dept myself, this to me shows visionary leadership at Sony. It may just be after all that they are aware enough of the value of people like Kutaragi to move the puzzle-pieces around enough to reward him for service but keep him in the right business position amongst the other executives.
