Noby Noby Boy - Image 1

Keita Takahashi was prepared for lots of criticism when Nobi Nobi Boy was released. He says that because it was such a unique game, this was to be expected. Nevertheless, all that Noby Noby bashing did get to poor Takahashi, who just wants everyone to enjoy this game. And for that, he's working on an update.

There have been many reviews/criticisms since Noby Noby Boy released. I totally understand as this is such a unique game and I expected those reactions. I donÂ’t mean to make any excuses. That being said, I do get depressed from time to time as I want users to enjoy the game as much as possible. But at the same time, this is what I wanted to create.

In the hopes that more people can enjoy the game, we are currently working on an update.

Takahashi also reveals that the game is to have offline multiplayer. Yes, you read that right - offline multiplayer. It'd certainly be interesting how this one's gonna turn out. Will it raise as many questions as when Noby Noby Boy came out? We'll see once this update goes live.

» ***** the gamers.

Gamers these days are really pissing me off. Developers like this actually commit the biggest sin - that is, NOT making 50 sequels, but instead, working on new IPs and projects, and every time the new IP gets bashed and shunned for no reason.

We need more original games like this, but most people are too afraid of change and weak-minded, so they'd rather go play Call of Duty 57 and Halo 42.

by FreePlay - 2009-03-13 19:01
» Excuse me?

Have you even PLAYED this? It's not even a game. It's more like a digital toy.

It DESERVES to get panned.

» Whaaaaaaaaaat

This man, NarooN speaks NOTHING but the truth. I for one, am TIRED of fps. I mean, i loved COD4 but damn, what happened to the originality (is that even a word?) in gaming?!?!?! what happened to epic platformers? (mystical ninja for n64 comes to mind) I dunno, gaming these days are just......lame.

» Never played the game

But i to am drunk

» @Freeplay.

Sorry, but your opinion doesn't equal fact. If what you say is indeed somehow true, then I guess the Katamari series were "digital toys" too. Aren't all games digital toys? You're interacting with them, playing them.

What's not a game, is Linger in Shadows. That was just an interactive tech demo, and everyone acknowledges that. Noby Noby Boy is an actual game. That's all there is to it.

» meh

I'm no fan of FPS games but I can't say I was that fond of this either. I don't mind it being on my PS3 but I didn't find it at all fun, more curious than anything. Oh well, least it had some easy trophies to add to my collection.

@GTO_VR4

What about Ratchet + Clank. Those games are similar enough to Mystical Ninja (but far better in my opinion, I wasn't keen on the N64 version of MN, preferring the original SNES game)

» original games are dead

Remember clover studios?

they made viewtifull joe, Godhand, Okami, and some other title i can't remember.

anyways, these were all extremely original games.

having their own graphical styles and gameplay elements. ways of telling stories and were of extremely good quality.

i'm no fanboy, i don't even like viewtifull joe, but i have to admit, it's an original and high quality game.

godhand and okami... i will never forget it...ever

anyways to the point....this studio clover.... got closed down...sales weren't high enough.

original games are dead!

by hush404 - 2009-03-14 02:02
» sigh yeah.

We keep hearing how we need more unique games and then they just fail and gamers scream "I WANT COD^insert number here", it's sad.

With those titles mentioned, you've also got stuff like Patapon, Shadow of the Colossus, PhyscoNauts (sp?), Flower, Indego Prophecy, Katamari and many others that usually door poorly in sales.

by interdimention - 2009-03-14 05:56
» um hello..... wake up and smell the burnt coffee

you said flower didnt do well in sales? you sure there amigo? you better look who has been in the number one spot for sales in the store, thats right ladies and gents, can i get a drum roll? FLower has held that spot, and if you dont believe me, go download the latest version of Pulse. now please stop grabbing names out of hats.

» agree with NathanDrake

It was... interesting... but I didnt really enjoy it all that much.

by GR1M - 2009-03-14 09:04
» I agree, however....

I actually have this game and it is enjoyable. It is refreshing to try something new. But Call of Duty 57.... im sure that game is gonna be AWESOME!!!!

by NarooN - 2009-03-14 09:13
» Yeah

I miss Viewtiful Joe. Even the animated series was good.

by napsac41 - 2009-03-14 09:28
» i have to give this game credit.

i bought this game along with flower because i wanted something amusing to do without feeling pressured. in other games that have been coming out you have "so many lives", "have to collect all the tokens", or "must beat in the time limit". this game along with flower felt good cause there were no objectives really. you didnt have to collect all the flowers. it was fun just to fly around. and noby noby boy was an experiance too. you really dont have to do anything. it was fun just to stretch him. luckly for the ppl who did want a challange the included trophies. which i collected 100% in both. and after that you could make new objective. how about these?

1. tie yourself in a knot. (a lot harder than it sounds, believe me.)

2. string yourself through all the clouds that hover the stage. (also a difficult task.)

all im saying is it was nice to have something that i could tinker with at my owe expense without feeling like i had to complete something. i couldn't expect any more or less for 4.99 either.

:]

» Whoa

I was about to comment that the screenshot reminded me of Katamari Damacy, then I looked up the game.. I wish I could talk to Keita Takahashi in person.

I have learned that criticisms mean nothing. ..Well, let me rephrase, criticisms can point out many flaws in a game, HOWEVER, when it comes down to the very basics (whether a game is fun or not), it's up to the user. I love Kane & Lynch, and there was a lot of bad stuff going around about that game. I loved .hack, and that got meh reviews mainly criticizing the replay value. Super Mario Galaxy and Brawl got high reviews, I'm not too fond of them. GTA IV got GREAT reviews, yet a lot of people complained about the game.. So, Takahashi, ignore the critics and do what you like. They don't like it? They don't have to buy it.

by phiyuku - 2009-03-14 11:07
» Number One Spot

(drum rolls).....

is wtf Shoryuken Pack for Street Fighter IV

who in their right mind will pay for something that should have been in the game to begin with.

On the other hand Noby Noby Boy is at number 6 If I remember correctly and Flowers is actually at 4 spot again if I remember correctly.

by Power_Surge - 2009-03-14 19:26
» The game is rubbish.

The game is rubbish - you can't just throw bunch of random stuff together and call it "original game". A 5 year old could've come up with the better idea for a game than this. Don't be fooled by all that new-age / weirdness angle - the game is just a one big joke and you are right in the middle of it.

by ogredeschnique - 2009-03-15 04:29
» no refund

I bought this game and was satisfied with it. It was something different and interresting to PLAY with.

But most people have to buy the game to find out that they don't like it. Then, do they base future buys based on how much they liked this game?

It's a complicated topic and yet none of this really matters.
