Kaz Hirai promises 380 new PS3 titles this year

Sony has upped their target title output for their next gen PS3 video game console. Earlier reports from last month's Gamers Day have pegged Sony's target at 90 third-party titles and 15 exclusives for the PS3.

According to a report from Reuters, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) President Kazuo Hirai was quoted by the Nikkei business daily as saying that Sony is now looking to release 200 software titles and 180 download-only titles for the PS3 from now until March of next year.

There are currently around 130 software and download-only titles available for the PS3. Sony is hoping that an influx of new titles will help pull up PS3 sales. Sony Chief Executive Howard Stringer also stressed the importance of attractive game software as "the key to accelerate PS3 growth over the next year" during the annual shareholders' meeting Thursday.

In the Nikkei interview, Hirai reportedly said that Sony would also be working with video game publishers on marketing their titles to help ensure good sales. This would include events and in-store promos.

Way to bump up that number by including downloadable PS1 games, arcade games, and lame ass original games like calling all cars. HOW MANY ACTUAL PS3 GAMES ARE THERE? HOW MANY ARE COMING OUT NEXT YEAR?

XBOX 360 has 180 games. Real next gen games, not recycled half assed games or exxagerated numbers!

And 190 of them will come out in Nov-Dec. To all the xbots trolling this article, does your system suck so bad you have to wait for new ps3 news, and then be the first to say some dumb *****. In your words the ps3 has 18 games and only one good one. Well the 360 has 180 games and NO good ones, the closest you got is Gears, and that's just above average. BUt hey at least you can use it to watch DVD's. They should give the 360 a web browser so al you xbots can actually use it, your favorite activity is going online and bashing the ps3, and you can't even do it on your "next-gen" console. Even the Wii has an internet browser, damn.

This number is easier to swallow when you realize that it includes a TON of old arcade games (ala Mortal Kombat 2, RoboTron, etc) being added to the PSN.

Then there are the Ports, which the X360 and PS3 are more than familiar with already.

I don't expect too many exclusives for either console...

These are just the exclusive games the 360 has, and 3/4 of them have very good reviews.

Gears of War, Forza 2, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Shadowrun, Saint's Row, Command + Conquer 3, Call of Juarez, Guitar Hero 2, Rainbow Six Vegas, Crackdown, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Dead or Alive 4, Condemned, Hitman, Enchanted Arms, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Dynasty Warriors 5, Dead or Alive extreme 2, Kameo, Lego Star Wars 2, Prey, Burnout Revenge, Tomb Raider Legend, Chromehounds, Phantasy Star Universe, Rumble Roses XX, Just Cause, Bullet Witch, Dance Dance Revolution Universe, Table Tennis, Star Trek Legacy, Moto GP 06, Full Auto, and Viva Pinata.

I don't think I would even play a PS3 if I had one. It has nothing to offer in terms of games at this time. If MGS4 comes out I would play it, but that's hardly worth $660.

Many game that that guy names like a exclusive was out before the ps3 comes out or when the ps3 was at launch.. and for guitar hero III will come in both console... and will come soon.. metal gear, tekken, warhawk and killzone that I will buy quickly, and more people that like that vI'm not so foward too that maybe it will be in my house but not by me or maybe yes is rachet & clan and singstar... the only game that I like in my xbox 360 is gears of war and maybe DOA but is much of the same but is cool... rainbow six is delayed but it will come out soon I guess... and the ps3 at least game that I buy that I like is motorstorm and resistance is very addictive online... Lost planet in 360 it gets boring with time, but is a good title too... anyway.. the ps3 now lack of games and everything that comes with a promise with sony is something to doubt...

Other than them most of the games u listed are good games for the 360 no doubt. But there only exclusive cuz the games were out before the ps3 but most of the sequels are goin multi.

Shadow run didnt get a good review that game blows. Call of juarez didnt do good either. lmao wow no one listen to this guy....i wasnt even done reading the list and Blue Dragon isnt even out this MCS is a reall *****got stop sucking M$ di.ck because they dont *****en care about you. Kaz is promising 380 new PS3 titles. Now you have to consider how many are: Exclusive, Multi-platform, Ports, Downloadable, Re-Releases, etc.

everything dopey said plus, if you're 360 is so great xman why do you spend so much time here? you should be far to busy playing with your superior console and it's vast library of amazing games.

wow i had a 360 and trust me im not missing much, i played through gears and the ending and beginings both sucks balls, first they throw you into the story without any info about whats going on, then they just kill off the story. and halo sure its a good game for about 3 months then you get over it. check my status on bungie if you dont believe i ever played halo or gears, its TheOne9889 same on PS3. so go and sob about your wafer board system that only lasts a few months because of flawed design. oh ya my friends 360s are now all *****ing up and locking up. im glad i got rid of that problematic system.

Haha yeah i agree with you "o;jkl;.". There hasn't been alot of next gen games yet. All the 360 got was a crappy version of carbon and fifa07 and others and that was a year after it was out. Can't wait for the new burnout either and it wouldn't matter if I had of bought a 360 back in 2005, I still wouldn't have been able to play a next gen burnout until PS3 came out at least anyway. Same goes for GTAIV.

Do any of these fantards know how long it is to develop a real next gen console game? Developers who are developing next gen games are spending millions of dollars to make one and i doubt they are in a hurry to release these games considering the expense theyd invested in it. That is the only reason why the ps3 only has few games at the moment. Anyone who has enough common sense would know that it is very hard to make new games on next gen consoles. Of the hundreds of games that the xbox 360 has right now, i know that only a handful are true next gen games. So guys just put a sock on it for the meantime and wait for the games that will come out of the ps3's library. Knowing that the ps3 shared the same problems with the ps2's launch its a safe bet that history will repeat itself and sony will prove that it knows what its doing. I am a sony fanboy but i wont burn the other consoles nor would want any of them to simply go out of the picture because i know the competition between these companies will give us better products in the end.

I agree with alot of things you said, but there is one thing I do kind of disagree in, I believe some of these next gen games do get rushed, take mgs2 sons of liberty for instance, orginally hideo kojima wanted to make mgs2 sons of liberty like mgs2 substance, but there was so much pressure on them to get that game out, he eventually had no choice but to only send out the unfinished game, wich was Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons Of Liberty, later on when he had the time, he made the finished version of the game (the way he wanted to have it in the beginning of the mgs2 release) so what I'm saying is, big companies like konami or ubisoft, does very much deal with pressure. People are impatient and when they want something dredge, they want it asap, before they lose there interest.

if all this hype is true about this 380 games thing, in 2008, the world will hold its breath to see what happens. if this gets pulled off, u can kiss microsfts ass good bye in the gaming industry. but if not, then sony will stay behind n the consloe wars for a very long time. The 380 games would help sony swing its wait around the consoles
