Kaz Hirai: I think about PS3 price cuts every day |
Ó
Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) President Kazuo Hirai says he thinks about price cuts for his company's high-end PlayStation 3 game console every single day, but decides that there won't be any at least for now. He instead wants to focus on bringing better games to the console."I think about PS3 pricing every single day. It is that important a factor," says Hirai. "But I am not planning any immediate pricing action now."
Hirai instead reiterated Sony's intentions to double PS3 shipments worldwide in 2008 from 5.5 million units to 11 million units. This will serve as a synergy to buying development firms to spur demand coming into the next fiscal cycle.
Sony has earlier acquired MotorStorm creators Evolution who are based in the United Kingdom. MotorStorm is currently one of the best-selling titles for a platform hungry for big exclusives.
The Sony PS3 has already shed some pricing weight prior to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) show a few months ago. This was intended to clear the unsold 60GB PS3 stockpile that it has in order to make room for the new 80GB model. A lower-tagged 40GB system is also reported to be in the works to cater to more budget-conscious consumers.

I promised myself (it was hard) that I won't buy the ps3 before it's next price cut (or good bundle) so they better cut the price around novembre, I mean, I WANT to play assassin's creed, and not in 2k8!!!
lol, anyway, it's not like they would say: "we'll cut the price in a month, so DON'T buy the console now, it would be stupid since it's price will drop, :D"
i got mine alr3ady so i don't care oh platon get a 360 if u wanna play assassins creed n wait 4 the price drop n more games next year 2 Buy your ps3
you'll hav3 more games to play anyway
misleading title for this article....
You can wait and get a deal from alot of places on a PS3 (or buy it online). Lots of stores are bundling them with home theatre setups too. I would buy now to take advantage of the 7 blu-ray movies free deal. That saves you more than the price cut will...
