Jeff Morris talks more UT3 - maps and memory |
Ó
Epic Games must have been out full force during Midway Games Day '07, or at the very least, staff people were very available for interviews and quiet chats around that time. Mark Rein got hit on for Unreal Tournament 3, Jeff Morris, too - and here we have Jeff Morris again, this time on a blind date with CVG. Let's cover all the stuff that wasn't covered the last time.- Oh yeah, about those maps. "We don't know the exact number of maps we'll ship with but we want it to be between 30 and 40 - that's substantially more than other games in the genre." That's substantially more maps than the average frag-monkey can handle in a given 24-hour period, even neglecting food and sleep. (I did about sixteen once before being checked into a hospital.)
- Three Unreals, three platforms, three versions, three ways of storing game content. They wanted to be sure that the game was essentially the same across platforms, so "chances are it'll be the same sort of size that will fit on all of them."
- "But while we want all of the versions to be the same that's not to say we won't do exclusive patches for each platform and that would enable us to do some pretty spectacular exclusive content."
- No announcement so far that Unreal Tournament 3 will carry a Games for Windows tag - negotiations are still on-going.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=156415 "How are you finding fitting the massive wads of game data onto the Xbox 360's DVDs, as opposed to larger PC HDD and PS3 Blu-ray discs? Morris: Blue-ray is certainly appealing for guys coming from a hard drive background to have a much larger footprint to store that sort of data, but because we want the game to be the same on all platforms the chances are it'll be the same sort of size that will fit on all of them. But while we want all of the versions to be the same that's not to say we won't do exclusive patches for each platform and that would enable us to do some pretty spectacular exclusive content. I can tell you we have 30GB versions here today and we copied two versions to each of those PCs, so by the end of it we had about a terabyte of copies over there. So we've got to get smaller - big is cool, it lets you have more environment diversity and stuff like that but at the same time you have to deal with the actual load times. We don't know the exact number of maps we'll ship with but we want it to be between 30 and 40 - that's substantially more than other games in the genre." ------------------- They Have Over 30GB of Maps....But thanks for the 360 Limitaions,We Will only see what can be Squezed on a single Disc. I still Dont Understand why do PS3 and PC ownerz have to Pay the price of Microsofts Mistakes....why all the Versions are the Same. This is Why i hate Multi-Platform Games....now we get Less Maps so they can fit it in the Tiny DVD9 and Probably Similar Graphics. This is Annoying
Read again. "big is cool, it lets you have more environment diversity and stuff like that but at the same time you have to deal with the actual load times."
Broken_Hero you should be much more concerned with the latest news on the PS3 ISO situation than going to the 360 page to comment and anyway Hard drives are going to decide storage space not the Laser drive in the end....
personally i just really want this to be a Games For Windows game. mainly so i can play with people using this on the 360. I personally feel that it will hurt sales a lot on the 360/PC front if there is no connectivity between them. And as Company of Heroes proved you can still be a GFW game and be for XP and Vista. and they should do that with this game.
This is also on the PS3 section. If someone wants to comment on something let them, as long as it isn't for no good reason.
I don't think it will because it's going to be hard to balance this game across platforms so it's fair.
RoboBlitz is built on unreal engine and is only 50MB. Compression is less of a problem on the 360 then Cell is on the PS3 for gaming development. The PS3 is probably holding back features possible on the PC and 360 version. That's why Epic are struggling to get the PS3 version released on time, even though developed probably started before the 360 version. Kepp your fingers crossed the PS3 version drops in 2007.
Try reading it again instead of looking for something to complain about. If you think Epic had plans on giving you 30GB of maps on the PS3 version on Blu-ray, then you're really dumb. Even without the 360 coming into the equation, Epic would have included a fraction of those maps on disk for the main game and used the other maps to extend the life of the game as downloadable content later.
Here’s one funny thing. If you live in Europe and want to buy a PS3 console, you must pay $1,500 US because PS3 consoles are only sold as bundles (PS3 + PSP + some games). Sony can do this kind of stupid thing to game addicts who have worthless lives (or should I say those lifeless game addicts whose lives are worth $7 per hour). Maybe I can just say short; those gaming addicts who occupy the lowest ranks in any society. I’ll predict what the PlayStation 4’s launch will look like. - PS4 consoles will be released in 2015. - Since the PS4 is too advanced, Sony could only make only 100 PS4 consoles for the worldwide launch. - 5 days after the console’s launch, people have seen all kinds of news on TV. People have done things like prostituting, killing, driving and shooting and robbery to get hands on PS4s. - Sony removed all kinds of unnecessary and crappy things on the controller. The new PS4‘s controller won’t have the rumble feature like the gay competitor’s Xbox 450’s controller. In fact, Sony went further and actually removed all those lame-ass buttons and D-pads; moreover, those overrated analog sticks were gone, too. You don’t even have to input your commands by pressing buttons like ancient monkeys. The new PS4 consoles will play the games by itself; thus, rendering gamers obsoletes; playing PS4 games is just like watching a movie. - In 2015, the screen resolutions like 1080p are so old school; therefore, PS4 only support 1 million progressive scan (1,000,000p). To make games in such high ground-breaking resolution, developers need many years and a lot of budget; therefore, there will be no PS4 games available until 2020. - However, You will be able to play all those 10 year old PS3 games you owned before. Moreover you can also download 20 year old PS2 games and 30 year old PS1 games via PlayStation Network from day one. - Since our PS4s only output 1,000,000p, you must own an HDTV (Hugh Diamond TV), otherwise your PS4s will be unusable. Since these new HDTVs are too advanced for the time being, the first HDTVs will be commercially available in 2025; that’s 10 years after the launch of PS4. - Those consumers who purchased our PS4s don’t have to worry about anything since our PS4 consoles are made to last for the next 100 years.
I agree with Devise, this is one of those games where KB/M >>>>>>> control pad, by a LONG shot. That would be cool if it was inter playable between XP and Vista, but console vs PC in a game like Unreal just wouldn't be fair.
I don't even care much for Sony, but none of what you said was funny in the slightest. Who spends any time thinking about stuff like that? Get a life
You are out of control my friend. Where do you come up with these theories. STOP DOING DRUGS.....they kill brain cells.
