Japan enjoys a PS3 price cut with Hot Shots Golf bundle

Happy Japanese: Both 20GB and 60GB PS3s bundled with Sony's Hot Shots Golf 5 (known as Minna no Golf 5 in Japan) will be hitting Japanese store shelves this coming July 26. The bundle makes sense; knowing the game's popularity in the Land of the Rising Sun, Minna no Golf 5 is bound to sell a lot of PS3 units.

Regular 60GB PS3 costs about Â¥60,000 (US$ 487), while 20GB editions clock in at Â¥50,000 (US$ 405). A copy of Hot Shots Golf 5 in Japan is worth Â¥5,980 (US$ 48.50). But with the new Hot Shots Golf 5 + PS3 bundles, the 60GB costs around Â¥61,980 (US$ 503), and the 20GB for only Â¥51,980 (US$ 422).

Take into account the retail price of the game, and you'll get a nice discount. With the apparent release of the hit golf game in Western shores, there may be an off-chance that the same deal will be offered here as well.

I like hot shots but the japanese are crazy about it. Hot shot moving ps3 units, thats crazy. In the state severyone wants MGS4 or killzone, in japan hot shots is so popular it has it's own ps3 bundle, MGS4 may not even have that in the states.

Why doesn't Sony bundle anything in the US with the PS3. It wouldn't be detremental for them to make a Resistance PS3 package. The game has been out since launch and it would be beneficial to those heading out to buy a PS3, if not enticing.

If they really want to make people happy with bundled packages here in the US, bundle upcoming titles, like Ninja Gaiden Sigma or LAIR.

Even better, make a shiny, ultra vibrant bundle based on Ratchet and Clank for the PS3. People like seeing the fun thats supposed to be inside the box on the box shell of the PS3 itself. Seems like the marketing staff for Sony needs a little training in packaging eye candy. People love fun and quirky digital characters!

If we get a bundle (with or without a pricecut), I'd hope it's packaged with either Resistance: FoM, or Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

I just can't picture 'westerners' lining up for a PS3 bundled with a Golf game.

IMHO Hot Shots Golf is better than Wii Sports and EA Sports T. Woods golf. Hot Shots is so much more value and I don't normally like golf games. If I didn't already have a PS3, I would consider buying this bundle if it were available in the U.S.

obviously Hot Shots Golf 5 wont be bundled here in America, because i know I personally wouldn't buy it. But bundle it with lets say, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk (with blutooth headset) or possibly MGS4 (I would love to see one of those, that would be hot)

XBOX 360 software outsells PS3 software sales in Japan, even though the PS3 hardware outsells the 360 hardware by a wide margin. So yeah, the Japanese PS3 owners are desperate for a new PS3 game. This might just sell a couple PS3s for people looking to play games instead of just blu gay.

Pretty sad for something that was supposed to play games all along.

those people complaining there is nothing to play on ps3 maybe you should go to the game store and purchase something, if you think there is no games for ps3, i think you are ps3 blind and can only see X.

and to hellraiser, the blu-gay you are mentioning must be blu-ray, the preferred choice of most rental chains all over the world, and here in japan hd-dvd movie shelves is next to non-existent, in most stores only blu-ray movies are shown/displayed.

and to all the non-japan folks, dont worry maybe sony will eventually bundle resitance on your shores. and im sorry to say that here in japan we have very lucky because we have low price on ps3 compared to any other country since launch.

and to all those people waiting for a price drop for ps3, when that happens, you will be buying a ps3 plus a game, but us early ps3 owners already have ps3 so our money goes to the games, which means we can buy many games hehe, this is a proven idea by a popular game podcast host on allgames website.

Okay... the games are on blu-ray disks dumbas5. And its funny because im one of the people who dosnt have any blu-ray movies so I know I dont use mine for watching movies.

I only have one movie that i got for free. So before you start thinking the system is only used for blu-ray your a dumbas5... I use it to play WarHawk and rainbow six soon
