Jaffe lied about Twisted Metal to bring a bang-up E3 2010 |

Up until its announcement at E3 2010, the next Twisted Metal has been in the rumor mill for a very long time, and with every little hint, David Jaffe debunked them all, rather convincingly too. According to the Twisted Metal creator, it was all to make a big surprise for the fans come E3.
To make a long story short, "So at the end of the day for me, the issue is really just E3 ... because like I said I'd been coming to E3 since the very first one," Jaffe told Joystiq. Jaffe also said that it was all a part of a larger plan of "misdirection".
"...people say to me, "Well, you could have said no comment." I'm like, "No comment is the same as saying ... it's what people say when they don't want to answer you." The other issue too is, I got to be honest with you, I've had such sh*t taken out of context with the press. Not you. I have no beef ..." Jaffe told Joystiq.
"But you know, you get kinda taken out of context enough ... I don't have animosity with the press, but it's more like, "You know what, guys? I don't owe you shit. I owe the gamers sh*t. I owe them entertainment," he added. "I felt bad about it honestly because I was so appreciative of the fact that you actually reached out and said, "Hey. Is this true?" But we were three months into that surprise at that point and a no comment would have just been like, "Oh, Jaffe. He's going to be there with Twisted Metal."
Job well done on that end, but the next time David Jaffe's up on the spotlight about a new game, I think I'll listen to the rumor mill more often.

the difference was the look on my friends face when he found out that Twisted Metal was actually real, I'm sure when I showed him the live demo he almost crapped his pants in excitement, that's worth it in my book
