Jack Thompson blames Thai taxi murder on GTA 4

Looks like recent troubles with the Florida bar isn't stopping lawyer Jack Thompson from trying to stop Take-Two Interactive and their sales juggernaut Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3). Thompson sent in a letter to the company in the aftermath of a murder in Thailand involving a 19-year old who allegedly killed a taxi driver after playing a GTA game.

In his email sent to T2, Thompson wrote:

I warned you both that copycat killings by teens would occur upon the release of Grand Theft Auto IV. Now my prediction has come true...

In addition to multiple written warnings, I told you of this coming mayhem in a face-to-face meeting with you, Mr. Selznick, on Central Park West on May 15, 2007... I am working with authorities now... as well as other remedies against Take-Two for its reckless worldwide distribution of its murder simulation training products...

This is just the latest killing incident prompted by your murder simulators. I aim to make it the last...

There you have it, people. Yet another episode of the Thompson crusade against the evil, evil games we play. Back to your homes, nothing more to see.

i agree.. i say kidnap him,tie him up with rope then make him sit there and watch me play GTAIV . then bust some CqC on his @ss,take him outside make him plead that Video games rule and he's a white trash liar..... then simply curb him to death. :)

but i LOVE CoD4, but killing middle eastern terrorists is (according to him) permittable but as soon as it has to do with GTA, its horrible. CoD4 and FPS's are much more "murder simulators" than any GTA. so he should just go f*** himself.

You just gave me the funniest mental image of Jack as some lame superhero.

Jack: "Lawyer sense tingling. A juvenile delinquent with mental problems has used GTA as and excuse for committing murder. Rockstar and Take-Two must be punished!"

Jack hails a cab just outside is no so secret lair. Na-na-na-na-na-na-na.

Minutes later Jack reaches his press destination and dramatically hops out of his taxi, striking a campy dramatic pose Adam West style. The unimpressed taxi driver counts the fare and drives away.

Crickets chirp as a slight breeze musses Jack's god awful hair.

Ok... so the kid admitted to using GTA 4 as the main reason for the killing... 1 out of how many people whose played the game? 1 out of how many times this has happened?

Murder simulators my a$$. We got freaking 1st person shooters which are even endorsed by the US military, why not sue them instead. You'd get more money from them seeing how its government now, well if he wins anyway (which he doesn't).

the fact is that Thailand are developing country. So, not many people would be able to afford PS3 or XBOX360. If there is anything to blame it should be on any other game on another platform that they can afford like GTA: Vice City. Oh! really we should blame it on piracy. That's the only reason that most people can afford computer games.

If someone paid me to come over to USA I would do it. Tell him to get the "gta minuite achievement" or I kill him. Not sure if I'll let him live after getting the achievement as he's the reason games arn't as good as they could be.
