GTA IV - Image 1What with all the previews of Grand Theft Auto IV flying all over the Internet, you may think that you know all there is to know about this much-anticipated game. But it's still good to add a few more tidbits about GTA IV that may be to your liking. Here are some details from Kikizo and CVG you may have missed:
  • Grand Theft Auto IV features an excellent - no, incredible - sound engine that makes you feel as if you're in Liberty City. Traffic noises echo through the streets; muffled atmospheric sounds can be heard while taking a stroll in the city; and listening to pedestrian chatter can even be a source of amusement: "Do you know in Italy they get three hours for lunch?!"
  • The size of Liberty City is also clarified by Rockstar's Hamish Brown. "It's definitely the biggest single city we've ever done", he says. But,

That city isn't going to be the size of San Andreas, because that would be absurd, but if you take into account the level of verticality of the city, the number of buildings you can go into, and the level of detail in those buildings, then you're talking about a game that is similar to San Andreas in terms of scope.

  • What we now know is that Liberty City is not as big as San Andreas per se, but in terms of the actual area that can be covered within the game, we can expect that it will be certainly as big as San Andreas. Thanks for clearing that up, Rockstar.
  • Despite of the floating rumors that Halo 3's release may cause some delay for Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar has confirmed that it is already set for release in late October.
  • CVG managed to take down the street names that were seen in a playable demo of GTA IV. This may not be much, but just in case you're interested, here goes: Masterson Street, Oakley Street, Tulsa Street, Cisco Street, Delaware Avenue, East Hook, and Rotterdam Hill.
We're also hungry for more dirt about Grand Theft Auto IV as much as you are, so stay tuned as we get more information!

» LATE October?

So it's confirmed then? It was going to be Oct 16, which is mid-October, not late. I guess Halo 3 did delay GTAIV
