Insomniac's CEO On Resistance: Fall of Man |

So, how do you pull that off? Price says that you gotta focus on a strong story; you focus on variety; you focus on innovations within the genre; and I think most importantly, the game has to feel coherent so itÂ’s not a blast-fest with no purpose. A lot of recent first-person shooters have done these things very well. We certainly plan to introduce compelling, new elements with Resistance: Fall of Man. Especially when it comes to the weapons, which is generally what the first-person shooter genre is all about. And what is the story, you might ask. Well, let's just say that it's a sort of an alternate universe. Imagine Earth without World War II; imagine history not the way it happened. Imagine a game grounded on one question: What if? Sounds promising, don't you think?
It promises a wide variety of ammo as well. And dig this, since this features an alternate reality, traditional physics laws need not apply. Imagine Auger projectiles that tunnel through objects. But presenting an alternate history doesn't mean that values that we live by won't be present in the game. In fact, Price says that there's going be quite a lot of interaction within the game, as enemies lunge towards unsuspecting victims, and it's your job to free those poor people from those horrid creatures.
Regarding platform issues, Price says that despite lots of negative reports regarding PS3, he's confident to launch Resistance on the said console. He says that Insomniac is aiming for mind-blowing in-game experience, and with Sony, their interests are perfectly aligned. It goes without saying that Resistance is something to watch out for.

A very good interview. I have a lot of faith in Insomniac to deliver a good gaming experience, They did deliver with Ratchet and Clank, so hopefully the same kind of care is taken into producing Resistance:FoM.
