Insomniac Games - Image 1Here's a little something for all you PS3 owners, thanks to the timely tip by QJ Reader David. Insomniac Games took time to speak with the semi-official PlayStation blog, Three Speech, and below are the juicer details that were revealed in the long-ish Q&A session. It was revealed that:

A lot of the weapons that are designed by Insomniac (especially the ones that show up in Resistance: Fall of Man) are inspired by real-life weapons, for example the Air-fuel grenade and the Hedgehog grenades.

SIXAXIS control of the camera was removed from Resistance Fall of Man because it was found (during playtesting) that it detracted from the gameplay as people involuntarily moved the controller during firefights. They note that anything that detracts from the camera-conscious FPS gameplay is "a bad thing."

Clank will play a bigger role in Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. He'll learn new abilities and impact the game more in terms of gameplay and story. As for SIXAXIS controls in the new game, the Tornado Launcher makes use of tilt-sense in guiding the launched whirlwind.

As for the tech-related stuff, Insomniac is currently using C/C++ and assembly in creating their games. They have, however, changed their techniques a bit as they claim that it is now simpler on the PS3 than it is on the PS2. Their new method frees up the SPUs for more gameplay related processing. For now, they have no plans of licensing their game engine.

Oh, and they plan to develop a PlayStation Network title.

For the complete Q&A with Insomniac, feel free to head to it using our "read" link below. Enjoy!

Resistance seemed rushed to me. A lot of the models had poor UV mapping and sometimes just plain poor textures. They could have done better with this title.
