Insomniac on Nocturnal Initiative phase two, confirms Resistance 2 officially for Fall

Developer Insomniac Games has just released a press wire indicating its plans for the year 2008.

The first details the company elaborated on were its plans for the Nocturnal Initiative, where it plans to share technology source code and presentations free of charge with the worldwide development community.

The first phase of Nocturnal had already been completed August of last year. The initiative's second phase, set to begin soon, will open some of dev studio's source code under a liberal open-source license.

On the gaming side of the company's press wire, Insomniac also confirmed that its highly anticipated Resistance 2 Sci-fi FPS was indeed scheduled for a Fall release.

While previous magazine publications and news sites already reported on this time window, this press wire straight from the company itself is the most concrete confirmation we've picked up to date.

We'll let you know if we receive any more details from Insomniac regarding Resistance 2.

i hope the make the chimera more relistic this time round as in they dont run around with retarded mouths that are allways wired shut lol ........also i hope they put a lil more gore into the game it would be way cool to blow a chimeras arm off or summin but yeah im really interested about the 8 player online co-op ... and gears of war and gears of war 2 are the only reasons in why im buying a 360 this year

Not to bag on Resistance at all, but I'd so rather have a new Ratchet and Clank with multiplayer and stuff than Resistance 2.

But maybe that's just my "I don't care much for FPS's" side talking

Killzone 2 will be delayed there's no way KZ2 can come this year if RFOM2 is coming in the fall.

I dont think it'll get delayed, if anything it'll be released in winter before the year ends. If they had pre-alpha down at last years E3 I'm pretty sure they can finish by the time this year ends (I wouldnt even mind playing that pre-alpha form so imagine it now O_O).

why not? if this come at the beggining of the fall and killzone 2 at the end of the winter to boost hardware sales for the holidays... is more than perfect this way and more with GOW2 coming

Their current pattern is 1 year ratchet, 1 year Resistance.

So expect the next ratchet fall 2009.
