Insomniac not done making new IPs, co-op to play significant role in future titles |
Ó

If for some strange reason you thought Resistance was the last new Insomniac IP, better think again. In the words of senior community manager James Stevenson, that "would be a silly thought." Indeed.
"We don't really want to talk about anything outside of A Crack In Time, but what I will say in general is that, if you think that Resistance is going to be the last new IP from Insomniac obviously that would be a silly thought," said Stevenson in an interview with GamerZines.
"At some point in the future there will be new IPs, but when, where, why, how, you know, who knows?" he added.
Stevenson also cracked open a hint at what fans can expect in future Insomniac releases: a growing emphasis on co-op. They may be skipping that path in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time, but the positive response to Resistance 2's co-op feature has left a mark in their minds.
"If you look at Resistance 2," Stevenson said, "our co-op numbers were higher than our competitive numbers. It's definitely a growing sector of the industry and regardless of what games Insomniac make in the future - because we will make many more games and I'm not going to talk about what they'll be - I think co-op is something that we will recognize the growing importance of."
So, Resistance 3 co-op confirmed?

I love everything they do.
" It's definitely a growing sector of the industry and regardless of what games Insomniac make in the future.."
growing sector in the industry? What the hell? It was always big until some "intelligent" people thought online play is more important. I would happily give up some online gameplay, if I can play some games with my friends.
it doesn't necessarily mean offline gaming. Look at R2.. the co-op in that is online.
Yo Insomniac, I love your games, except for R2. Take a hit of some smelling salts. R2 co-op got more play because the competitive was completely craptastic. Worst game modes ever. Hey, let's carry some stupid ball around instead of a flag, that's a good idea. Please fire the d-bag who came up with that.
what if they were fighting for super rare minerals that cost a billion per ball and 2 opposing sides are fighting 4 the riches to upgrade weapons, unlock new ones, bragging rights...etc
If their idea snowballs into something big in the future its definitely worth to investment in new ideas.......thank god devs are not close minded like you
Yo H, what you should have said was, "Hey Insomniac, don't pay any attention to that idiot IXinchnail. He doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm so happy you were smart enough to give me a ball instead of a flag. CTF is so old and overplayed. It's nice to have some variety." But you didn't say that. You decided to talk S to and make assumptions about someone you don't even know. There's a word for that, it rhymes with troll.
how about instead of a flag you carry a paperbag full of crap which you plant in your enemy's base and then light on fire. followed by ringing the doorbell of course.
As a huge gamer, competitive tournement player (and not just lame GB), and creator of website www.gunclangaming.com I want to add in that R2's Co-Op was AND is a great change of pace for a group of friends.
With the no-respawn and tactical play of SOCOM keeping the nerves on edge, it is great throwing in R2 and going on an absolute bash fest with my clan mates.
The game is fun because of the solid game mechanics, difficulty level, and skill-based ranking system.
The VS. play in R2 is lacking because it just isn't as good as other respawn-hell games like COD. If you can't add something... then add nothing.
With Co-Op there is next to no competition out there. Uncharted 2 has a great system but with only 3 players. Now, step up and make the campaign co-op just like Vegas 2.
