Insomniac CEO Ted Price happy with Resistance-PS3 tandem |
Ó
Insomniac's big boss, Ted Price, sat down with GamePro's Vicious Sid to talk about Resistance, its love affair with the PS3 and their inspiration for the creation of first-person shooters.According to Price, fans of the Ratchet and Clank series from the PS2 will most probably recognize the weapons imported to Resistance. For example, the Shock Raptor in Ratchet can be considered as the shotgun equivalent in Resistance. However, although there may be similar functionalities, they still had to make the weapons "a little more visceral" here.
Meanwhile, he's got nothing but sweet praises for Sony's Cell Processor technology in the PS3. According to him, what they, as a developer, appreciate with it is that they have a storage medium like the Blu-Ray because it gives them the room to continue to grow. Furthermore, he is optimistic that as of now, the capabilities of the PS3 is yet to be fully explored and tapped.
"And that's what's cool about this console. As teams become more and more proficient with the PS3, you're going to see bigger and better stuff."
So, where do they get the inspiration to create a first-person shooter? He says it's mostly from books and movies, and not necessarily from other FPS. "I mean, we play other first-person shooters, but we are very conscious about the need to separate ourselves from the others because it's inevitable we'll get compared to others."

Delete the name 'PS3' and insert the name of every console ever released.
but he was talking about the PS3 specifically. and the questions were directed towards the PS3 specifically. give the guy a break.
him and his team have created an awesome FPS, and they're glowing from that hit game high. they'd be singing the praises of anyone had they been the reason why their game was a hit.
and what he's saying is true. as teams get used to the technology, making the games becomes easier for them, and the games get bigger and better.
of course, if you listen to Mark Rein, he's saying they already tapped the 360 for all it's worth, so who are you going to believe?
I personally think this game sucks. I mean, all the launch titles out for the PS3 currently blow, imho.
People are raving about Resistance, because it is the only decent game out exclusively for the PS3, they are comparing this to games already released on other machines.
NBA 07 is better as it displays in true 1080p.
I still love the PS3. Just gotta wait another year for the true titles to appear.

Why do idiots like you always resort to lying just to make a point?
Provide the link where Mark said they've maxed out the 360. I guarentee that when you read it, it's clearly NOT what he's saying but how you WANT to interpret it, remember it, or both.
Idiot.
