Insomniac: Another two to three years before PS3 gets maxed out |
Ó
How long till the PS3 gets maxed out, you ask? If Insomniac senior community manager James Stevenson nails it right on the head, it won't be till two to three years from now.Said Stevenson, "There's always ways we can become more efficient. The PlayStation platforms are built with a very high ceiling and I think that's part of the success Sony has had in creating these platforms with really long life spans."
He continues on to say that the PS3 is still a young system so the devs are still getting used to making and releasing games on it.
The first couple of years are all about developers getting games up and working. You see what Naughty Dog has had the chance to do in the past two years. You've seen what we've been able to do in that time. This is where it gets exciting.
The PS3 still feels like a young system and I feel like it's finally hitting its prime. You've got the Slim, it's at a good price point now and sales are really picking up.
I still think you're not going to see the PS3 really maxed out for another two to three years. We're using all of the PS3 right now, but you can always be more efficient in the way you use it.

yeah they are right! More ps3 games, I reckon at the end we'll see the ps3 with graphics better tahn the pc now or even better than crysis. Of course no AA and 720p but still awesome!
i agree with ya there but i dot think they will get better than PC.PC is practically unlimited if youve got a good system, but yes PS3 is still young and has lots of room to improve. if devs would actually take their time to get to kow the system, then the ps3 could fully utilize its capabilities. look at Uncharted 2 :3
it would be f*cking sweet! UC2 looks awesome, and it'll only get better he says. Nice! I bet GOW3 will be another step up from UC2... I wonder what the 360 will do to compete (with graphics I mean)
The 360 isn't trying anymore to compete with the graphics of the PS3. There are already a lot of games that proof the PS3 is graphics-wise ahead of the 360. MS now tries to compete with games and PSN. XBL does great, it has it's advantages, but these are getting smaller and smaller.
When you asked 360 fanboys 1 year ago: "What are the advantages of XBL?" They said:
"We have Netflix, Cross game chat, voice Messaging and better online play!"
Well, Netflix has been comfirmed for PS3, Cross game chatting seems also to come to PS3. The only thing left is Voice Messaging. Online gaming quality is arguable at best.
The only thing left are the great games 360 has to offer to compete. IMO MS is doing piss-poor at the moment, because the only games I see is Alan Wake,SC: Conviction and Mass Effect 2.
Ubisoft already hinted at a possible Splinter Cell port for PS3 at a later date and Mass Effect 2 can also be bought for PC, (PC offers better graphics and I prefer the controls) so only thing left is Alan Wake.

Well put my man! Beautifully f@(k'n illustrated!!
thanks! :3
Quite awesome to hear about this...Always knew that the PS3 wasn't giving all of its strength into anything.
That goes for every single console on the market. There are always more efficient ways of maximizing performance.
Its like when you see Windows Vista and 7 running on the same hardware. One is faster than the other because it utilizes its power more efficiently.

maximizing performance means nothing for Wii and M$ as their games can not out perform ps3 exclusive games
Nice post man. An analysis on the conditions of both systems now, and doesn't set sparks for fanboy wars.
I might want to add that Alan Wake looks pretty interesting, though.
But that doesn't mean they can't squeeze out more than people think they can.
The Conduit for the Wii could be an example.
