Yep, we're inching closer and closer to getting Street Fighter IV (PS3, 360), and with that, Capcom is letting us in on the opening sequence for the latest Street FIghter title. Gotta love that dark mist theme they're going with, although sometimes there's just too much, I think. Pretty cool music too.

Lots of matchups in the video, including lots of Ryu-and-Ken one-on-one. It seems that's the way best mates hang out and have a good time - beating each other senseless!

» Me too

But I grew up on Street Fighter, and I still enjoy the gameplay.. my hands hurt a bit after though hahaha

» tekken is the best

3d fighter but street fighter is the best 2d fighter and if ur hands dont hurt after playing street fighter ur not playing correctly, lol

» i feel the same way

ive played street fighter since i was 6, but tekken has this fun factor that no other fighters have, im excited 4 both, but tekken has me more excited 4 some reason

» Great stuff.

Beautifully done intro sequence. Cannot wait for this. Been aching to play a decent beat 'em up in years. Sorry, but Tekken's never done it for me. Played Tekken 1,2,3, 5 and the online one that was preinstalled on my PS3 (and soon deleted) and I just can't stand the game. On the PS1 my friends and I far preferred Soul Blade and Bloody Roar 2 (both of which seemed to lose something in later installments though which is why I wish Sony Europe would put these on the PSN store).

Anyways I hope this plays as good as the videos look. But then it's Street Fighter and can't go too wrong (even the live action movie game was enjoyable to some extent if you looked passed the awful Mortal Kombat style digitized crap)

Less than a couple weeks to go...

» wow..

Though i've never really played the previous Street Fighter games, this one really gets me into the mood of getting hold of the previous ones in the series.

Buying this game for sure!

And if someone knows what songs it is (guess it's the soundtrack specially made for the game) then please share your knowledge cuz i really need the lyrics for the first one.

» Is this the opening song for the NTSC/U version?

I hope so. But it really doesn't matter because I already have the collector's edition Pre-purchased for PS3 .

» meh

anyone else think the whole thing having the "water color" type effect was over doing it?

» Cool i guess

I don't understand the buzz about this game.. its just another street fighter.. for next gen.. just like sport video games. The details between madden 08 and madden 09 are minute.. but people still dish out 60 bucks each year to play the same game, with different rosters and maybe some different animations.. But i guess all 2d/3d fighter fans are excited.. but to me its just another fighter.. I'm not bashing it, its just getting alot of buzz for a simple game.. sure enough it'll be fun n all but.. Meh

by rollypoly - 2009-02-08 16:48
» um

it's been about 10 years since street fighter 3 was released...

this is a proper sequel, unlike most sports games and the 5+ diff flavors of sf2 and sf3.

i'm a mortal kombat guy, so i'm not that excited either. however sf fans have been waiting a very long time for this game so the buzz is understandable.

» Differences

The differences are not minute at all. The jump from Madden 08 to 09 was huge. Lot's of fixes, implementations and touches that really made it much more than a yearly upgrade.

Also, SF4 is not really a sequel at all. It's Street Fighter 2 with 3D graphics. That's It. Same game, story, characters. Only half of the "New Challengers" seem to have made it along with 2 of the "Alpha" characters. Street Fighter 3 (Which was actually revolutionary graphically and gameplay-wise plus advanced the storyline 20 years.) seems to have been b@stardised.

» Street Fighter 4ver!

man, I've been waiting for this game for a every-long time.

I have all the street fighter games and verus too. but I short of one. and that is Street Fighter EX3, can seem to find it anywhere. on the PS2 and SF 4 for the PS3 , I def-net-ley going to own that as well. 3 more weeks left for us in the southern hemisphere (South Africa)..

Peace Out !!
