PS3 - Image 1Danish company Implementia has officially launched ps3comp.com, a third-party website that lists PSOne and PS2 games and their current level of compatibility with the PS3. The website has around 13,500 PSOne and PS2 titles listed in alphabetical order. The backwards compatibility level of these titles are based on users' experiences.

"Since the beta release a month ago the site has already had 17, 000 hits. ThatÂ’s great news for all us PS3-owners. It underlines the need for an impartial compatibility site. Everything else is letting the wolf guard the sheep", said Jesper Joensson, the website's co-founder.

"Many use the site for checking changes in firmware compatibility. Newer firmware doesn't necessarily mean better compatibility, so before upgrading they make sure their games are as compatible with the new firmware version as the old."

I'm one of the lucky ones who got a NA PS3 with the PS2 chip in it for h/w emulation. I think it's a tradgedy that Sony pulled that chip to save a few measly dollars when they bragged so hard about backwards compatablity. I like my PS3, but I'm no Sony fan. =C

Just wondering if I can benefit from this I have a PS3 with the Emotion Engine.

Shame about the europeans not having the actual emotion engine and the graphics symthasizer, which the ps3 only rely on firmware updates to get better compatibility it sucks!! i have a US PS3 i'm bloody proud of it , you know how Sony likes ripping off people in europe? that is one example

Only the PS2 CPU was removed, the euro PS3 still uses the GS for graphics.

Most of us europeans have already stopped complaining about BC and moved on - because most people still find most of their old PS2 games perfectly playable on the PS3.

I'm from Europe and i don't complain. I didn't buy my Ps3 to play Ps2 and Ps1 games.
