id Software's Tim Willits clarifies Rage "cuts" |
Ó

A few hours ago, we reported that according to id Software's Tim Willits, the 6 to 8 GB data capacity of the Xbox 360 has significantly hindered the Rage (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) team from putting in content which they have originally intended.
Instead of having 5 or 6 smaller wastelands, they ended up going with 2 larger ones instead. What's more, these changes have been applied not only to the Xbox 360 version but to the PS3 and PC versions of the game as well.
Now Willits has sent out an email explaining that no, id didn't make any cuts to Rage's gameplay just so the Xbox 360 version could fit onto two discs. Here's his email to ShackNews:
During my talk today I mentioned that we originally wanted to have around 5 or 6 smaller wasteland environments but later decided instead to have 2 larger wastelands. Mostly because we were going to be shipping on two DVDs for the 360 and felt that it would play better with one large wasteland on each disc so there would be no loading between wastelands. Not loading levels while you drive around is a much better decision regardless of platform.
There was NO CONTENT removed from RAGE because of the 360--NONE AT ALL. Moving from multiple wastelands into fewer but larger wastelands was a far better decision and is actually giving us more gameplay in the game.

that they got rid of the small different levels....therefore CUTTING variety

Sounds like a paid statement if u ask me (just tell em it aint us heres 10grand :D) would be perfect microsoft tactic
a company spokesman is paid to speak for the company?
novel concept.
id is owned by microsoft?
novel concept
But you misunderstood him.
I agree somehow with Spylord. Sounds like Bill Gates held a knife at his back while he had to speak that.
Couldn't they just let it be installed on the 360 so there would be no disc swaps?
I am also tired of the 360's stupid decisions such as forcing game makes to make due with the arcade version without a harddrive. I love my 360 just as much as the next guy but man I don't want a watered down game on my ps3/PC just cause of the 360.
They should have made the game the best way for the PS3 and PC and give 360 owners the option to download the content they couldn't fit on disc from xbox live for no additional charge.
..that microsoft has tarnished and reduced its greatness because of their lack of hard drive... sigh.
