PS3 - Image 1

For those of us who regularly download content from the Sony PlayStation Network Store and onto our Sony PlayStation 3s, trying to find a specific piece of downloaded media - say, a game, a photo, or a video that we want to view again - can be a pain. However, with the arrival of the latest firmware update for our shiny black consoles, users can now finally get their media library straightened out - and it's all thanks to a little extra feature that might have been overlooked.

So, how does one organize his or her downloaded files on the Sony PlayStation 3? The answer, dear friends, lies on the Triangle button. Pressing the Triangle button while highlighting your relevant demo, video, or photo lets you edit that media's Album Tag. Giving a group of downloaded content the same Album Tag then puts them in that Album, thereby organizing them. Simple, easy, and saves you a lot of time in the long run.

Definitely a convenient feature that helps users straighten out the media they've downloaded from the Sony PlayStation Network Store. Here's hoping for more useful functions to be released on the Sony PlayStation 3 in future updates!

» I did this

It was a dreadful hour or so to organize my 160GBs worth of media, but I got it done. Now it's sexy though. Every photo, video, and game has a folder and every song has the name, track #, album, artist, genre, and little album art picture thing. Actually I already had most of the music stuff. It was the new folder stuff that took me a while.

» I did this too.. but

60GB owners may want to avoid using this feature as it may be responsible for a bug which will cripple PS2 compatibility.

At this point however Im not sure if its specifically tied to FFXI or not. (FFXI being the only PS2 content actually installed on the HDD)
