The Sixaxis, sans rumble. After all the ruckus caused by the lack of a rumble feature for the PS3's next-gen controller, the SIXAXIS, people may just about be starting to get over the initial surprise as more and more alternatives (ideas) are being introduced.

First, there was the idea of making a rumble adapter, and now, Japanese game accessories manufacturer Hori is also taking this matter into consideration. In a short Q&A feature in the latest issue of Famitsu, a Hori Corp. representative expressed interest in making up for the Sixaxis' deficiencies, that they "have some ideas" but that the cooperation of software and game-makers would be necessary for this project to happen.

Being one of the largest players in the peripherals business, Hori already have several items for sale which can be used with and for a PS3. However, should they succeed in bringing back the rumble to the Playstation, then they would be answering the prayers of a whole lot of people.

» I doubt it

Sony has to agree on letting them make a controller containing both. (hence, it's their tech and their system.) I doubt they would let this go through. (heck, sony even stopped the usb tilt for psp mercury.)

» would only work for ps2/ps1

this would only work for older games since it would be a periphial and thus nobody would put rumble code into the game.

» Yep.

Listen to him. Rumble has to be coded into a game.

This would only work on PS1 and PS2 games that contained rumble. Sorry.

» agreed

because i cant imagine playing a game like metal gear snake eater without rumble..but it wont be used that much in future games if they go through with it.developers is not gonna waste there time coding the rumble into a game when only a few ps3 owners gonna have the device for it..waste of time .n64 had a rumble pack but only a few games used it and the ones that did was rushed everything rumbled the same way ..you couldnt tell a big explosion from a small explosion.....but its better to have an option

» Why so much people love the rumble?

Personally I' an RPG lover, so the rumble is useless for me, but the motion sensing is really cool ( special games like katamari with motion sensing, even quare-enix said FFXIII will use it to control the planes and cars!

I mean, the rumble was cool in "champions of norrath" because it made the explosion "sounds" bigger, but err... all the fuss for that? for bigger explosion?...

» it'd work with rpg's too

Rumble in RPG's would be great! It brings the whole game to life anyway. Without it, something lacks...especially with shooters. Besides, they can always make the option to turn it off instead of remove it completely. That's no fun. :(
