Hold it! Engadget issued a Cease and Desist by mystery Chinese firm for PS3 Slim leaked pics |
Ó
The source of the C&D is an unknown Chinese company, and they don't seem all too pleased with the leaked images. Here's what the notice said:
We just find that the following web pages on your website contain some
confidential document and photos, which were highly possibly illegally
released and posted:
(redacted)
We are investigating this violation and will bring all necessary legal actions regarding this matter. In order to protect the confidential information and prevent you from further legal issues and infringements, please immediately remove those pages and keep our request confidential. If you have any question regarding this issue, please feel free to contact us.
Engadget appears to be fully standing by its story as 1) it has yet to take down the articles and pictures pertaining to the unit in question, and 2) they obviously did not heed the "keep our request confidential" bit of the letter.
It's clearly not from Sony, and it is yet unclear what the role of this Chinese company really is in this whole matter. It would be safe to surmise, however, given their reaction, that the pictures are from their own backyard and they're trying to keep a tight lid on it.
Or, it could be all part of an elaborate hoax to make the talks of a PS3 Slim a tad more credible. On top of all this, Sony is being characteristically quiet.
What do you think?

Either that Slim PS3 is real and Sony is going to hand that manufacturer their asses or that manufacturer is making fake PS3s and they don't want Sony to hand them their asses.
Still kinda shifty on the whole thing. I don't want it to be the real deal, because it's fugly. I'd hate it when they stop making normal PS3's, and at that exact moment, my 2nd-gen PS2 BC 80gb unit drops dead and I'm persuaded to by a new one - one of these.
Too little info to give my real opinion. These Chinese guys (no racism) have their own little factory and are making Slim PS3s, that are apparently real. This could simply be like those other companies who made the Treamcast and such. The Treamcast was a revamped Dreamcast made by another Chinese company. It had a built-in LCD screen, used Sega-style controllers, and was black. Here's a pic: http://www.pixfans.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/treamcast_01.jpg

companies are always trying to reproduce and recreate
yes, i do think too it's possible that this unit could be a project that's not sanctioned by Sony. you'd have to appreciate the irony, though, of a faker company ordering a cease and desist for a "leak".
companies are always trying to reproduce and recreate something that's hot on the market. We've seen it happen with many consoles from previous generations. Notice the logo for this "new" PS3. Why would some Chinese company send a C+D letter and not Sony themselves?
Chances are that Chinese company is just making the hardware for it and then handing it to Sony. Almost everything has a "Made In China" thing on it. They make the hardware, we put it together.
And that's how electronics are made. =)
towards that the Chinese company is the ones making it for sony, unless sony had no idea about this product until now you figure they would step in and have them remove the sony and playstation logos... i believe they are indeed trademarked
Do you guys really research at all about Sony?
Do you even know anything about behind the scenes with Sony?
Heres a little secret that I've known for along time.
You see Sony owns a Chinese Manufacturing plant in China, thus thats the reason for cheaper PSP Slims and PS3's.
You wonder why PSP Slims feel flimsy and such, its not made by Sony manufacturing plants, its MADE BY CHINESE!
Sony were fools for leaking this too early, they were told this would happen just like with the PSP Slims.
Hahahahahaha you guys don't know, do you?
Check your PSP SLIMS VERY CLOSELY! It says MADE IN CHINA! not in japan.
hahahahaha. Fake, ha do not attempt to make me laugh.
Sony owns the chinese plant that leaked these photos.
How ironic in the end, no one believes me and in the end I am correct and victorious with everything about this being real.
It always happens, no one believes me until its too late and I've won.
That is the PS3 Slim. PSP SLIM made in china.
1) The way you post is annoying. You don't need a line break for every damn sentence.
2) My PSP-2000 Slim doesn't feel flimsy at all. I wouldn't think it being a slim had anything to do with it's durability, because Sony wouldn't have an entire plant dedicating to "slim systems."
We'll see what happens when Sony officially announces the thing, if it ever exists. Until then, don't boast about being 'right' when all you did was make baseless claims, commoner.
I don't know what your point is? The xbox 360 and wii are both made in china aswell, as is pretty much every electronic device you own - the flimsy ones AND the good ones.
Commoner and by the way I didnt say PSP slim was flimsy, people think its flimsy.
Get it right and by the right, you guys are always freaking wrong with your articles.
Naroon, it rare for me to reply to people but I love my PSP slim and yes my posts are annoying but in my idealogical world AKA in the real world people like me are always correct about this.
I don't reply because Im wrong, I just reply because Im bored and I have nothing to do and sad to say.
Commoner, you entertain me with such a small word, Im much much more than you could ever be. Baseless claims.
We will see who the winner is but in the end I win because I always win. Its a fact. That picture of the PS3 slim is not fake, its actually quite real, your just naive.
Like you would ever know, you don't own a company, so you would have no idea whats it like to keep stuff like this under wraps. Have you ever owned any stock? Cause I do own stock and lots of it is in Sony.
You know why Sony made a deal with Chinese, cause it costs them little too nothing to make parts for them.
Have fun thinking that your correct. How interesting you people can be.
stop typing stuff anyway id say its real i mean sony always redesigns stuff so yeah
All original ps' are made in japan while ALL the slims are made by chinese. If i remember correctly PS1 slim was made in china, PS2 slim was made in china PSP slim was made in china and so will PS3 slim be made in china.
hope i was right.

Second website admits the truth.
See I gave you what you wanted on a platter.
By the way I would check that website if you want the real scoop of the PS3 slim.
"You wonder why PSP Slims feel flimsy and such, its not made by Sony manufacturing plants, its MADE BY CHINESE!"
You said it was flimsy. Learn how to write in proper English before you try to reverse your claim.
Nothing you said in either post was a fact, and even then all of your illogical statements were so border-line retarded that they could barely even be considered opinion.
Copy-pasting my words and using them against me is a mere cliche that commoners like you fall back on when they can't come up with a good enough comeback to the massive amount of logic and facts that just got dumped on their head.
I know I'm always here, spreading my infallible arguments and truths, but it's okay for you to feel inferior to me. This is no matter of being a "winner" when you've already loss the entire debate here.
Any other random rebuttals you used against are completely irrelevant, but what else can I expect from a Japanophile who names himself YAMI ANUBIS? Get back to your emo Final Fantasies and cosplay, kid. Sorry if I ever hurt any of your e-feelings, but actually, you probably deserved it.
why do i feel as though that this slim ps3 is going to be only able to play like PSN games or something.
For this this whole thing! I love that YAMI wrote:
"Hey I just admit the facts."
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOO LOLOLO LOL O LO LOL OL O LO LO L O

Thats is thes bestest I's evers heards!
Why so srsly srs?
That word commoner is annoying lol.
Who really gives a damn if you win, it just makes you sound like some spoiled child. You reply because you absolutely "must" have to win any form of arguement, not because you're bored.
Saying "People think its flimsy." is a baseless claim, how would you exactly know what "people" think? Lmfao do you go up to everyone who owns a slim and ask them "Is your slim flimsy?" xD?
You're a bit of naive too, my friend. :3
The Yami guy is a retard who makes baseless border line racist claims for reasons that escape me.
But. If you think all consoles are made only in japan you are a fool. It'd be far too expensive. Initial consoles may be assembled in Japan for the most part but once things get underway, in order to increase productivity, companies will start producing systems in other countries. And its not just the slims either a lot of 60gb models were built in China by the same company that told Endgadget to C&D (MainTek).
China =/= flimsy products all the time. They just happen to be cheaper to higher more often than not. Like Mexicans in America or Indians for almost all customer service.
What we have here is a company trying to seal a leak. Someone snuck in a camera took some illegal photos and they made their way online. MainTek got wind because they're big news and tried to cover it up but failed obviously. Sony wont send a C&D order because it would be too obvious (But who knows at this point). Like typical public relations, they'll pretend that the news wasn't leaked and announce it at E3 like nothing happened. For whatever reason, companies think that ignoring rumors will make them less likely or not so appealing or something I don't know why. Just sit back and watch it unfold and try not to get too emotionally caught up in the issue.
