HMV: Xbox 360 pre-order listing for MGS 4 a mistake

HMV: Xbox 360 pre-order listing for MGS 4's a mistake - Image 1

This should put all rumors about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots appearing on the Xbox 360 to rest. High street retailer HMV UK has just admitted that the pre-order listing for the said title that appeared recently on its website is nothing more than a mistake from its online admin team.

Online site GamesIndustry tried to contact the retailer for further confirmation about the matter. One representative explained,

In his enthusiasm, one of our online games team indicated that hmv.co.uk would start taking pre-orders for MGS4 on Xbox 360, when, in fact, he simply meant to ask customers if they wished to receive an alert in the event of this title one day coming out on this platform.

As of now, Konami and Kojima Studios has maintained that the last chapter of Snake's saga will only be available to PlayStation 3 owners. However, it should be remembered as well that Konami Digital President Fumiaki Tanaka was quoted as saying that the franchise might go multiplatform in the future because of its popularity.

I bet the person who posted that in the first place visits sites like this and just wanted to stir up this rumor some more, I think it will happen though as long as this rumor stays alive, as long as this rumor keeps being fed its power will grow stronger LMAO

and besides if your a company in business to make money (i.e. Konami) then you have to consider going for the full base of the gaming market if your current platform cant pull in the numbers, they are going to do it, its going to happen as long as this rumor stays alive.

Sure sure. Whatever you say buddy. Whatever floats your boat. If you say tomorrow that the 360 is made of gold, how can we say no? You stay right there in that nice little dreamland of yours, with fluffy white clouds, pink 360 shaped flowers, and 360 Controller-shaped butterflies.

If you feel like wearing a miniature 360 model on your neck instead of a Cross (or any other symbol), please, by all means, do so! Don't let any of us stop you.

These rumors have been around since January I believe. I recall when there were rumors of Devil May Cry 4 heading to the 360 and sure enough they announced it multi the following month. The point is these rumors have got to stop. It's a different rumor every month.

They would be too busy shoving Halo up their ass to pay attention to it, MGS2 Subsistence for the xbox was a flop that's why Snake Eater wasn't on there, multiplatform due to popularity my ass, the only reason 360 fanboys would want MGS is so they can say they took another exclusive from us. I may be missing the point here, but how do you know this game isnt going to be a pile of *****?, you dont because no one has played the full game (I cant say the same for Halo 3 as a playable proven beta is out) so why should any of you care if it comes out on this or that machine anyway.

Get a life and go work for charity or something, arguing over a game and wither it is going to different machines etc ffs.

You all went on about Lair but now its getting very bad previews its gone very quiet all of a sudden, and what if MGS4 goes the same way some people on here are going to look really foolish..

You guys can say w/e you freaking want about the exclusitivity of MGS4 but when you say it's just a gears that's where I draw the line. ARE YOU FREAKING RETARDED???

The first MGS (from the MGS series, not MG) was released in 1998 2 console life years back when microsoft hadn't even released it's own console yet. There's been a huge intricate story line expanding 5 games (counting mgs ops, but not mg Acid). This while gears has come out almost a decade later after the release of the first MGS game. The games barely fit the same freaking genre you m0r0n.

If you've ever played any of the MGS games it's about using your wits for stealth instead of carrying huge guns around like your compensating for something. I'm not saying that gears is a bad game, it's probably really fun, but to say that MGS4 is a copy cat of gears? I wouldn't even go as far as saying gears is a copy cat of MGS4 they're completely different games.

you know what i find funny? in the articles saying mgs4 will be out for xbox, we find xbox fans jeering at playstation fans, and even though there is another article saying that it was a mistake (providing further confirmation of it being a ps3 exclusive), xbox fans continue to rant on about how it will go multiplatform. when will you guys get a clue? maybe one day when you realize that it wont port over to xbox we'll hear you saying "mgs4 sucks anyways"

i cant believe you would say that. if anything gears of war copied mgs3 which came out many years before it on the PS2. in fact, i dont even know if they belong in the same genre. unoriginal run 'n gun vs revolutionary espionage action. if i really wanted gears of war, i would buy it for pc, but since i dont, i wont. i've played gears of war several times over at my friend's place, and i prefer the first halo on my pc over it.

i hope it does come out for 360, but if it doesnt i wont loose any sleep about it. I didnt even play the last one so i dont think i would get the story. MGS's have always been cool, but not that cool. MassEffect and Assassins Creed going exclusive ps3 would ruin my day though!

I dont know why xbox fans think MGS4 will be coming out on their system, MGS4 was produced with PS3 Hardware in mind. How long did it take for Kojima Studio's to produce MGS4 for the ps3? I could be wrong but I believe it took more than a year or so. So why do people believe that an Xbox360 version will be available anytime soon, if at all?

MGs 4, 360, going to happen.

This holiday season:

360 will break 15mil sold with its price drop and HAlo 3, Mass effect, Bioshock, and AC all coming out, the Wii will either be even, or have a slight lead by the end of the fiscal year (march).

The PS3 will get up to 6mil units sold, with sales looking to increase as the MGS 4 release edges closer, the highest spike in sales will be from sept - nov.

MGS 4 will be announced around September - November for 360, it will come out the next quarter after PS3 (augustish).

It's just good business, but i mean who really cares anymore? MGS has been the same gameplay since one, with just the location and story changing. The story line and ***** is cool, but there's only so much fun I get from breaking someones neck, dragging their body, and repeating the process for an entire game with some cool cutscenes in between.

To Aoxo, is that your girl and your kid? Your girl is hot bro lol, and gratz if thats your kid.

And I definitely need to hit up Mexico sometime after I go to Amsterdam this year lol.

I am sorry but I think we were looking at a different gameplay video for mgs4 that was on youtube. Have you seen all the new crap you can do? Sure some of the stuff is a bit "dorky", like rolling around in a drum and "striking" out a couple of soldiers, but the gameplay was definetely revamped to take advantage of the console.

P.S.: I haven't seen anything with environments that vast and that detailed actually running on the xbox 360. I'm not usually one to rant but the xbox360 has very limited potential. As soon as we get some dedicated developers that are willing to truly dig in and take advantage of the PS3 we'll be seeing more high quality games that the xbox360 can't compete with.

Good one, you are going to comment on the gameplay from a 15 minute trailer?

And no, the game play isn't innovative from previous titles, he's STILL sneaking around, STILL breaking people's next and all, and still hiding out to complete missions. It's an espionage game you can only do so much with it.

I'm not saying the game won't be fun, but it damn sure won't be innovative.

Oh and if you haven't seen enivornments that detailed, you obviously haven't taken notice of Mass effect, Bioshock, Lost Odyssey or Oblivion (and that was one of the first gen games), not to mention the other ridiculous amounts of games coming out.

And yea, I'll keep waiting for the "dedicated developers" to start showing off what they have been working on. I'm getting tired of hearing that since the 360's launch. I remember when Ps3 FIRST dropped and all the multi plat games looked better, "Give it a year", well its been damn near a year, and the multiplat games are STILL better.

Just like you mentioned it's a Espionage game, how much do you expect it to change. What you're telling me is that you don't want halo 3 to be "the same gameplay" as halo 2. Would you rather have them innovate it enough so that it ends up being a strategy game?

On a side note could you give me some links for some Mass Effect and Bioshock gameplay? I just haven't seen any footage of the games running on an actual xbox360.

BTW: Oblivion also came out for the PS3 and it is BETTER than the xbox360 version...
