Fans, even us here at QJ.Net, have been wondering about when will Half-Life 2: Episode 2 hit retail shelves. Valve Corporation has been excitedly talking about physics and AI for the game but it's still mum about release dates or development status.

Good thing, though, that the company posted an announcement over at its official site. While there's still no mention of a concrete release date, Valve did say that the game is already in the final stages of development. The statement explained that majority of the time was spent working on concept arts. Part of the announcement reads,

Right now, we're working hard on putting the final parts of Episode Two together. Early on during development we spent a lot of time working on concept art of key areas of the game, so that everyone on the team could share a vision of what the final game would look like.

As proof, the three new concept art above were also released by Valve. It added that try to remember them and see how they will be transformed and be utilized in the game. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 will be available on Games for Windows (PC) platform, as well as on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (PS3).

ya valve never holds back their releases for buisness reasons, they just polish their games a lot and set release dates too agressively.

Valve is probably done with the game, and is finishing up Portal/Team Fortress 2 for release.

They do not hold back games, only polish/finish.

They believe you should be able to play through it the first time, the perfect time.
